Arsenal Star Bukayo Saka has had his say on the prospect of finishing in the top four ahead of our North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners are currently fourth and in the driving seat to finish in one of the Champions League places. Spurs are only two points behind us, but a loss to Liverpool tonight could all but crush their top-four dreams.

Arsenal and Tottenham will face each other in the North London Derby on Thursday, and many feel the winners of that game will be the ones who’ll qualify for the Champions League next season. Saka has now revealed that the thought of ruining Spurs’ top four hopes is acting as motivation to him and his teammates.

Bukayo Saka: There’s no better motivation for Arsenal than spoiling Tottenham’s plans

The young Englishman sat down for an interview with Carrie Brown on beIN Sports today, and he was asked if beating Spurs to the fourth spot is acting as added motivation to Arsenal players.

Saka replied: “I don’t think there could be anything that motivates us more (than beating Tottenham to the fourth spot).

“We’re already motivated enough, but we obviously don’t want to lose it to them. So, it gives us an extra boost.

“But, we know that we have to win all the games, I think, to have a chance now.”

The Insider’s View:

Arsenal are currently the favourites to finish fourth and getting over the line would really be an extraordinary achievement. We have the youngest squad in the Premier League and to be where we are after losing each of our first three games is simply remarkable.

Beating Tottenham to get back into the Champions League would make it a whole lot sweeter.

If Liverpool beat Spurs tonight and then Arsenal manage to win against Leeds tomorrow, we’ll go into the derby with a five-point advantage.

If that happens and we beat Tottenham, we’ll secure Champions League qualification in their own ground, while they’ll have to settle for a place in the Europa League. That would be hilarious, wouldn’t it?
