Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Houssem Aouar over the last few days and Gooners now have reason to believe that this deal could really happen this summer.

The Frenchman, labelled as ‘incredible‘ by Pep Guardiola, was Mikel Arteta’s top target last year. Arsenal tried extremely hard to bring him in, but Edu could not agree a deal with Lyon, and we turned our attention to Thomas Partey instead.

The Gunners really struggled without a top-quality number 10 in the first half of last season. We dropped down to the bottom half of the league table at one point because of our failure to bring in an attacking midfielder, and that eventually turned out to be the biggest reason why we finished eighth.

Arsenal are desperate to avoid making the same mistake this summer. Martin Odegaard was our top target, but a deal for him is impossible now. James Maddison is also said to be on our wish list, but he will be extremely expensive.

That has forced Arteta and Edu to revive their interest in Aouar, and the Frenchman is set to be available for a bargain fee of £20 million. (The Sun)

Houssem Aouar’s agent is in London

Aouar’s brother, Brahim, who is also his agent, revealed on Instagram that he is in London. He even posted a video of himself walking around Piccadilly Circus, which is just over four miles away from the Emirates Stadium.

That has raised the excitement level among some Arsenal supporters, who are convinced that Aouar’s agent is in the capital to negotiate a move to Arteta’s side.

That is slightly far-fetched considering that the Euro 2020 final is at Wembley on Sunday. He may just be in town to attend that game, but we are in the middle of the summer transfer window, and there’s a small yet significant chance that he could be here to strike a deal with Arsenal.
