'I actually couldn't believe it': Some Arsenal fans react to 'shocking' 65th-minute incident

Arsenal got the better of Leicester City yesterday despite going a goal down in the first six minutes.

The fixture was filled with surprises from start to finish. Mikel Arteta made a ton of changes, Arsenal recovered brilliantly after a slow start, Willian had his best game in an Arsenal shirt and Jamie Vardy didn’t score against us for a change.

That made it an eventful afternoon for the Gunners, but that wasn’t the only surprise. There was an incident in our defensive third in the 65th minute of the game yesterday which shocked a number of Arsenal supporters.

Pablo Mari outpaced Jamie Vardy

Vardy was released in behind our defenders with a brilliant ball. There usually is only one winner in situations like that but Pablo Mari Outpaced the Englishman and bullied him off the ball.

The former Flamengo man could’ve done better for Leicester’s goal, but apart from that, he had a brilliant game. He was solid with the ball at his feet and as the video above shows, he was incredible without it as well.

Last night’s result means that Mari is now unbeaten in the 10 games he has started and completed the full 90 minutes. That’s a phenomenal record and the Spaniard is proving to be an excellent player for us.

Arsenal fans, predictably, were shocked by how Mari beat Vardy in a foot race. Not one supporter would have believed that before the game, but it happened and people have been vocal about the incident on social media.

Here’s how a few Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter
