Arsenal to sign Costa, interested in Dembele and look to recruit a Sporting Director for next season

FA Cup draw

Well it was always going to be a difficult team who ever we drew, however perhaps we drew the better team with Manchester City not the greatest defensively. Either way, it will be a classic semi final at Wembley.

Under 23s

Talking of Manchester City, the Arsenal Under 23’s played out an entertaining 3-3 draw. Carl Jenkinson scored a late goal to level the scores. The match saw another impressive performance by Reiss Nelson who scored one and assisted in the Jenkinson leveler. Just for the record Yaya Sanogo played, he also failed to score.

Sporting Director

According to reports in the Daily Telegraph, Arsenal are looking at options of employing a Sporting Director for next season. Whether this means an end to Arsene Wenger or just planning for the future with an overlap, is difficult to say. The role would oversee sports science, medical facilities, scouting and recruitment, leaving the manager to focus on team matters. The idea makes a lot of sense and perhaps something similar should have been put in place when David Dein left the club.

Costa to Arsenal

Before anyone gets excited, we are not talking Diego, the 88 looking year old from Chelsea. Instead , it is exciting Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa. Wolverhampton will be looking for around £20m for the Portuguese under 23 international .

More transfer news

Now according to the Daily Star, Arsenal have joined the hunt for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele. With competition high, due to Chelsea and Manchester United both interest, it remains to be seen if the club will make a bid. The Frenchman has scored 32 goals in 45 appearances for Celtic so far

Also being reported this time in the Sun, is Arsenal’s desire to sign Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye. The Senegalese star has been in excellent form so far this season.

Wilshere praise

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has praised Jack Wilshere for not sulking after being dropped for the last two games. Wilshere came on during the weekend match against West Ham, setting up Joshua King for the winner in a 3-2 win.

Bellerin’s agent

Many reports are reporting how a reliable source has confirmed that Barcelona’s club Director has held talks with Spanish full back Hector Bellerin’s agent in London, over a possible move to the Camp Nou.

Barcelona are said to be keen to bring back the Spaniard back to where he began his career. They apparently face stiff competition from Manchester City who are also interested in securing the 21 year old’s signature.

I would be surprised however, if Arsenal allow him to leave.
