The rebirth of the beloved Toyota Supra made countless car enthusiasts all around the globe gleam with joy. It’s safe to say that the collaborative effort between Toyota and BMW brought about a worthy successor to the Japanese sports icon. And the automotive aftermarket wasted no time in offering attractive parts and upgrades for the born-again legend to take it to the max.
While the new Toyota Supra comes from the factory with 255 to 382 horsepower (depending on the engine), we know that those figures are not nearly enough to satisfy the speed demon in a lot of us. That led the Vivid Racing team to take on a project Supra and see just how much power we could get out of it with the Pure Turbos Pure800 Turbo upgrade. The Pure800 is an upgraded turbocharger where they modify the compressor exhaust wheel by machining the factory housing. It basically works off a core program so you are getting an OEM replacement turbo that feeds more air to your engine to give you more horsepower.
To further help with this turbo kit and get the numbers we want, we have also installed the Titan Motorsports Water | Methanol Kit. Titan has a lengthy history in Supra tuning, so they developed this plug-and-play kit to really offer the best performance possible when using water/meth to the engine. And lastly, we went with EcuTek for custom tuning, which allows us to have different MAPs for 91 Octane, 93 Octane, 100 Octane and include or not include the water/meth system. The Toyota Supra we worked on was already equipped with an AMS Performance intake, an Armytrix downpipe, and HKS full exhaust system – the perfect platform on which to incorporate these more serious mods.
