National League Betting Preview Saturday 28th October 2017

Quick-fire action in the National League with this weekend’s fixtures coming hot on the heels of an intriguing set of midweek results. We’ve taken a look at some of the key matches in our betting preview for Saturday 28th October 2017.

Boreham Wood vs BromleyLive Game Odds
Boreham Wood made the long journey back on Tuesday night with a decent point against a Guiseley side who are difficult to beat on their own patch. It wasn’t a pretty game and spectators didn’t get much value for money but it was a decent result for the Wood who remain unbeaten in October. Betfred have priced up the home side at 21/20 for this encounter with Bromley.

Management have moved quickly to reassure fans that 11 goal man Bruno Andrade is staying at the club for now after he was reportedly training with Portsmouth. The attacked is 13/8 with Bet365 to score anytime during these 90 minutes.

Bromley saw their unbeaten run come to an abrupt half on Tuesday as they crashed to a 3-2 defeat at home to Maidenhead, it was their first defeat since the 30th of September and they are 12/5 with Boylesports to get back to winning ways and steal all three points.

Barrow vs AldershotLive Game Odds
Barrow just can’t seem to get the rub of the green at the minute and crashed to a 3-2 defeat at Chester in midweek. The Cumbrian outfit had levelled and staying in the game but a last minute sucker punch ended their hopes of taking something back North. Neill Hornby told the media his side will keep ‘plugging away’ and it’s 12/5 with Bet365 for this game to end all square.

The hosts have lost four out of five in all competitions whilst Aldershot are another of the unbeaten sides in October. The visitors will fancy their chances and are 7/4 with Betfair to take all three points.

Hornby’s side are at least scoring goals now but they can’t defend and that should play into the away sides hands. As the home side, they should get on the scoresheet but haven’t kept a clean sheet since the 12th of August. Both Teams to Score is 8/11 with Betfred.

Gateshead vs DoverLive Game Odds
Rarely do Gateshead win on the road but they took all three points and claimed a clean sheet against Leyton Orient in midweek and return to the North East full of confidence. Their home form remains suitably impressive and they are 31/20 with 888Sport to keep that going here.

It’s Steve Watson’s first home game in charge and the club have called upon Newcastle fans to help get behind their former defender. Any Toon fans will be hoping for an entertaining affair and they could be in luck. Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 11/10 with Betfair.

Dover are tough to beat on the road despite the long distances they have to ensure and It’s 11/5 with Betfred for the match end all square with the visitors maintaining their unbeaten streak on their travels and keep top spot.

Macclesfield vs EastleighLive Game Odds
Macclesfield were knocked off the summit following a rare midweek defeat at Dagenham. The Silkmen went down by a narrow margin but should have too much for inconsistent Eastleigh. Jon Askey’s men have beaten Aldershot and Ebbsfleet here recently and are 20/21 with Boylesports to chalk up another success here.

The hosts have managed to keep clean sheets in both of their last two home successes and have conceded just twice in their last five matches. Both Teams to Score? No is Evens with Paddy Power.

Eastleigh are not as good as the sum of their parts. They have a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the table with several former Football League talents within their starting XI. Their midweek slip-up to Solihull Moors is indicative of their campaign so far. Their performance was branded as ‘embarrassing’ by Richard Hill and they are 9/5 with Betfair on the Draw No Bet market.

Maidenhead vs DagenhamLive Game Odds
John Still’s men picked up a tremendous 1-0 victory at home to leaders (at the time) Macclesfield and ended a run of consecutive defeats which has seen them slip down the league. It was the first time they’ve netted in four attempts and it should give them the confidence to kick on here. Despite being on the road, they are the 5/4 favourites here with Betfred.

Maidenhead surprised many punters with their 3-2 success at Bromley on Tuesday and will be looking to notch up back-to-back victories in the National League. They are unbeaten at home throughout September and October and are 11/5 with Bet365 to pick up another three points here.

Whilst many Dagenham players sit at the top of the market, Bet365 are offering 9/2 for Harry Pritchard to find the net during the 90 minutes and he has scored three in his last four home games for Maidenhead.

Maidstone vs ChesterLive Game Odds
Chester are clearly improving under Marcus Bignot especially at the Deva but this will be a huge test of their credentials. There was notable improvement on the road during their competitively fought 0-0 draw at Prenton Park and they could spring a surprise here. They are a huge 10/3 with Paddy Power to nick all three points here.

They didn’t defend particularly well on Tuesday night and were lucky to notch a last minute goal against Barrow. This could be an entertaining affair and Over 2.5 Goals is 10/11 with 888Sport.

Maidstone have a striker in-form with Joe Pigott enjoying life at this level. He’s scored in each of the clubs last three completed away ties and had netted the second goal of the game in their abandoned tie at AFC Fylde last weekend. He’s 11/8 with Bet365 to score during the 90 minutes and add to his collection.

Solihull Moors vs AFC FyldeLive Game Odds
Both of these sides picked up notable results on Tuesday with AFC Fylde putting two past a previously solid Wrexham team. Dave Challinor’s men had also been leading against Maidstone before the match was abandoned due to inclement weather conditions. Whilst still a concern, their away form has improved with just one defeat in three on the road and they are 13/12 with 888Sport for success here.

Solihull Moors enjoyed an unexpected victory at Eastleigh but they are still rooted to the bottom of the table. They have been showing small signs of improvement lately and could grab a point here. The match is 13/5 with Paddy Power to end all square.

AFC Fylde’s games have been littered with goals this season although they have tended to pick up a few clean sheets at home. Away from home, it’s a different story and they are unlikely to keep the opposition out here. Over 2.5 Goals is 4/7 with Betfred.

Sutton vs EbbsfleetLive Game Odds
Sutton were involved in an entertaining and topsy-turvy contest on Tuesday night as they shared the points and the goals with promotion rivals Aldershot. Paul Doswell admitted that it was an opportunity missed but his side will hope to bounce back here. They have been priced as 5/6 favourites with Boylesports for this clash.

The 28th of August was the last time that Sutton kept a clean sheet in the National League and they must tighten up if they are to achieve promotion. Both Teams to Score? Yes is 3/4 with 888Sport.

Ebbsfleet were the draw specialist during the early stages of the campaign and five of their last eight matches on the road have ended all square. It’s 12/5 with Betfred for another stalemate here.

Torquay vs HartlepoolLive Game Odds
Torquay are improving and picked up a rare away win at Ebbsfleet on Tuesday night. The Gulls remain joint bottom but their recent upturn in form has meant they’ve been able to keep tabs on the sides above them. It’s just one defeat in four for the side from Plainmoor and they’re an intriguing 8/5 with Boylesports to nick all three points here.

The visitors embark upon one their longest journeys of the season but do arrive in good form. Pools are unbeaten in five National League matches although three of those have ended with a 1-1 score-line. It’s 5/1 with Betfair for the same outcome here.

Jamie Reid has netted each of Torquay’s last three goal in the league and the former Exeter man is 21/10 to grab another one during the 90 minutes.

Tranmere vs HalifaxLive Game Odds
Tranmere are still not really travelling anywhere fast and sit deeply entrenched in mid-table. They drew 1-1 with Hartlepool in midweek and start as short priced favourites for this tie against Halifax. They had to come from behind to secure the point against a decent Hartlepool outfit and are short-priced 4/7 favourites for this tie.

Halifax’s form has dropped off recently and they are now winless in six across all competitions. Billy Heath’s men have failed to score in 50% of those games and with Tranmere far better at the back than going forward, this could be a slow burner. Under 2.5 Goals is 8/11 with Betfred.

James Norwood hasn’t scored as many as he was expected to this season but he has netted two in his last four home games and is 5/4 with Bet365 to score during the 90 minutes.

Woking vs GuiseleyLive Game Odds
It’s now back to back defeats for Woking in the National League but thankfully for the Cards, they return to Surrey for this fixture against struggling Guiseley. The hosts are still at the right end of the table and have won four of five on their own patch. They are 5/6 for success with Paddy Power.

Paul Cox’s Guiseley are improving and have taken big steps forward recently but they still lack firepower and they are also dreadful on their travels. They have managed to procure a point in three of their last five away matches though and it’s 13/5 with Bet365 for them to grab a draw here.

The hosts have kept clean sheets here against both Dagenham and Sutton whilst the visitors have failed to net in three of their last five away games. Both Teams to Score? No is 11/10 with Betfair.

Wrexham vs Leyton OrientLive Game Odds
Wrexham slipped up at AFC Fylde in midweek and will be determined to bounce back in North Wales. The hosts are defensively sound this season and are likely to enjoy playing against a blunt Orient attack. The home side are 13/11 with 888Sport to chalk up another success here.

Steve Davis has real problems in East London and he must rectify these as soon as possible. They have netted just once in their last four games and against a miserly Wrexham defence, this could be a low-scoring affair. Under 2.5 Goals is priced at 7/9 with 888Sport.

Wrexham have been sharing the goals around this season but Chris Holroyd netted during their last home success and he’s 7/4 with Bet365 to do so again here.
