National League Preview Tuesday 15th August 2017

The fixtures are arriving thick and fast in the National League with another full midweek fixture list taking place. Aldershot sit at the top of the table at this early stage proudly boasting a 100% record and Gary Waddock’s men appear to be the side to catch! They may have played a game fewer than the rest of the division but there is work to do for Solihull Moors who have yet to pick up a point.

AFC Fylde v Maidenhead
Two of the league’s newcomers meet at Mill Farm on Tuesday night. AFC Fylde have remain unbeaten having picked up three successive draws and it is 13/5 with Sky Bet to finish all square here once again.

The wealthy North West club are 11/10 favourites with Betfair to win this game but they need to stop conceded goals if they are to begin climbing the table.

Both Teams to Score is likely to be popular at 7/12 with 888Sport as both sides have to yet to keep a clean sheet in the league. Maidenhead sit just one place above their hosts but have got off the mark with a home victory against Hartlepool in front of the TV cameras on Saturday lunchtime.

These two sides have scored 10 and conceded 10 in their opening 3 games and this is set to be an entertaining evening on the Fylde Coast and 4/6 on Over 2.5 Goals with Paddy Power is another bet likely to be snapped up by punters.

Bromley v Leyton Orient
It appears that Bromley are not to be underestimated this season. Neil Smith has helped guide his side to an unbeaten start in this season’s National League and they’ve conceded just a single goal in their three matches so far. They’ve been priced up at 9/5 with Bet365 for this contest with Leyton Orient.

They managed to snuff out any threat from Macclesfield at the Weekend and another defensive masterclass could be on show here and are 11/4 with Bet365 to keep a third clean sheet this season.

Orient won their second successive home match at the weekend but were unsuccessful in their only away trip so far this season. They are 7/5 to head back to the Matchroom Stadium with all three points on Tuesday evening.

Veteran striker David Mooney has struck twice this season already and he’s second favourite in the betting at 6/4 to find the net during the 90 minutes

Dagenham v Ebbsfleet
Dagenham boss John Still said he’d happily have taken a point away at Eastleigh although his side had to fight their back into the contest after trailing mid-way through the first half. The Daggers are still unbeaten after three games and they are on the tails of Aldershot who lead the way in the National League. They’ve been priced up odds-on for this contest at 10/11 with Sky Bet as they take on one of the league’s new boys.

Corey Whitely netted both goals in Saturday’s draw including the equaliser from the penalty spot and the midfielder has been priced up at 13/10 to score anytime with Bet365.

Ebbsfleet were involved in a hugely entertaining and topsy-turvy affair with AFC Fylde at the weekend drawing 3-3 despite being 2-0 in the 1st half. Their defence needs to tighten up if they are to repel the Daggers and Over 2.5 Goals has been priced up at 7/9 with 888Sport for this contest. The visitors do have goals in the side and it is 8/13 with Boylesports that both teams find the net here.

Guiseley v Tranmere
It’s been an uncharacteristically sloppy start from Mickey Mellon’s Tranmere and they have already dropped points twice this season. They were held at Woking on the opening weekend before being stunned by a Craig Dundas winner against Sutton on Saturday. The Merseyside outfit had no answers but are expected to bounce back here in Yorkshire as they’ve been priced as 4/6 favourites with Bet365 for this match.

Tranmere’s games have been decided on fine margins so far as they feel their way into the season and it’s 5/6 with Boylesports that we get a cagey contest here resulting in Under 2.5 Goals.

Guiseley will not want to be on the wrong end of a Tranmere backlash here and they are 31/10 with 888Sport to sneak a draw against the men from Prenton Park.

The hosts were battered 6-0 by runaway leaders Aldershot at the weekend but they’ve picked up their only point of the season at home so far.

Hartlepool v Chester
It’s not been the start to the season that Hartlepool fans were expecting with manager Craig Harrison struggling to get a tune out of his side so far. Pools have slipped up twice now and sit just outside the relegation zone having taken one point from a possible nine. They are priced up as 3/4 favourites with 888Sport for this contest with Chester.

The Monkey Hangers have yet to keep a clean sheet since dropping into the National League and Both Teams to Score is also available at 3/4 with Boylesports .

Chester haven’t played an away game yet as their opening match with Solihull Moors was called off. They’ve picked up two points from their last couple of home matches having scored just once but also conceding just a single goal. They appear hard to beat and it’s 13/5 that they leave the North East with a point on Tuesday night.

Padraig Amond has history at this level and is prolific. He netted at the weekend and is 11/8 with Bet365 to find the net here.

Maidstone v Aldershot
Maidstone have the unenviable task of stopping the early pacesetters Aldershot here but they’ve not started the season well losing two of their three matches and scoring just once. They are 5/2 with Betfair to spring a surprise here and beat Gary Waddock’s side.

The Shots were imperious in their 6-0 thumping of Guiseley at the weekend and they’ll be glad they don’t have to travel far for this midweek contest. The leaders are attractively priced at 19/20 with Bet365 to make it four wins from four.

There are plenty of possible goalscorers in this contest with the shot’s trio of Matt McClure, Scott Rendell and Shamir Fenelon all prominent in the betting. The latter is 7/4 with Bet365 whilst Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 4/5 with Sky Bet.

Halifax v Dover
Halifax manager Billy Heath suggested that fans shouldn’t be concerned about his side’s lack of firepower but instead should focus on their tremendous defensive record. The men from the Shay slipped up on the opening weekend but have kept back to back clean sheets on their travels at both Chester and Barrow. They’re 5/4 with Betfair here to finally get three points.

Another low-scoring game is entirely possible as Halifax aim to give little away and it’s 19/20 with Bet365 for Under 2.5 Goals in this contest. This would have landed in each of the Halifax’s three matches so far.

It’s been a mixed start to the season for Dover who have collected six points from a possible nine. They bounced back from a rare slip-up against Bromley with a victory over Wrexham and they are 2/1 with Boylesports to register a second successive victory in West Yorkshire.

A third goalless draw of the season for Halifax may be tempting for some punters and a 0-0 scoreline is available at 17/2 with Paddy Power.

Solihull Moors v Barrow
Solihull Moors are yet to play in front of their own fans but they will begin against Barrow on Tuesday night. They currently sit bottom of the table after losing back to back away games but they are a different animal on home turf and they are priced at 23/10 with Paddy Power for success here. They’ve struggled to keep the score down losing 3-1 and 4-1 in their previous two encounters and it is 7/9 with 888Sport that Over 2.5 Goals lands again here.

Barrow got their first win of the season at the weekend after a frustrating 0-0 draw with Halifax seven days ago. The Cumbrian side are 21/20 to make it successive victories here.

Adi Yussuf likes playing at this level and he netted the opener for his side at the weekend. He’s 5/4 to score anytime with Bet365.

Sutton United v Macclesfield
Sutton United come into this contest full of confidence following their unexpected victory over Tranmere at the weekend and Paul Doswell’s side are 21/20 with Sky Bet to repeat the trick here.

They’re back at Gander Green Lane where they are tremendously strong and have already beaten Leyton Orient but they face away specialists Macclesfield in their second home match of the season. Macc rarely leave away trips with nothing to show for it and 13/5 with Bet365 to pick up a draw here.

The hosts have conceded just a single goal in their opening three games and will be keeping things tight once again so 4/5 with Boylesports for Under 2.5 looks like a logical choice. Macclesfield have also kept a tight back-line so far this season so a half time 0-0 scoreline at 15/8 with Paddy Power could also be popular.

Torquay v Boreham Wood
Inconsistency has been the problem for Boreham Wood in the National League and they have drawn, won and lost in their opening three matches. They are 17/10 with Sky Bet to pick up maximum points on their travels here.

They hit four at the weekend and that should give them confidence here although they are yet to keep a clean sheet this season and it’s 8/11 with Boylesports for Both Teams to Score here.

Torquay were terrific on the opening weekend picking up a 0-0 draw with Tranmere but their away form has left a lot to be desired since. They are 7/5 with Paddy Power to grab a point here at Plainmoor.

Angelo Balanta has looked lively for the visitors so far this season and he has played at a higher level previously. His experience could help him score here in Devon and he’s 7/5 to net anytime with Bet365

Woking v Eastleigh
Once again it looks like Woking will be relying on their home form this season. The Cards got off to the perfect start with three points against Gateshead before succumbing to back to back defeats on the road. They are 17/10 to win here with 888Sport.

We have two contrasting styles here as the hosts have yet to keep a clean sheet and are happy to attempt to outscore their opponents against a team who have been largely keeping it tight thus far. Both Teams to Score is available with Boylesports at 8/13

Eastleigh were leading 2-1 at Dagenham at the weekend but weren’t able to hold on conceding from the penalty spot. They’d probably be happy with another point here from a potentially tricky away tie and they’re 21/10 to secure a point.

Wrexham v Gateshead
It’s a familiar tale for Wrexham fans who have seen their side plagued by inconsistencies so far this season. They are 5/4 with Paddy Power to win this home tie with Gateshead but have already already slipped up at the Racecourse on the opening weekend losing 1-0 to Macclesfield.

Gateshead are riding high in the National League at this early stage and have kept back to back clean sheets at home. Away from home they are searching for their first victory and are 2/1 with Paddy Power to claim three points.

These two sides have played out some high scoring affairs recently including a 4-0 and 3-0 and Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 19/20 with Betfair on this occasion.
