National League Betting Preview Saturday 19th August 2017

The league is starting to slowly take shape as we have four games under our belts. Despite conceding a 95th minute goal, Aldershot still lead the way and despite a spirited fightback, Solihull Moors still prop up the table alongside Torquay with just a point each.

AFC Fylde v Dagenham
AFC Fylde suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of Maidenhead in Midweek going down to Dave Tarpey 4-goal salvo. The North West club weren’t helped by going down to 10 men early on and their defensive woes continue. They have been priced up at 19/10 with Betfair to pick up their first maximum haul here.

They’ll have their work cut out against a lively Dagenham side who are scoring for fun. Unfortunately for John Still his side can’t keep clean sheets either and they blew a 2 goal lead to draw with Ebbsfleet on Tuesday night. The Daggers have been supported in the market however and are 5/4 favourites with Boylesports.

With neither side covering themselves in glory defensively, goals are expected here! 4/6 is the best price available on Over 2.5 Goals with Paddy Power whilst more ambitious punters might want to have a look at Over 3.5 Goals at 7/4 with 888Sport which would have landed in 50% of Dagenham’s matches and 75% of Fyldes.

Finally, Corey Whitely continues to impress for the visitors and netted in midweek. He is the 6/4 favourites to score during 90 minutes with Bet365

Boreham Wood v Aldershot
Aldershot slipped up in midweek dropping their first points of the season with Gary Waddock’s men failing to get over the line after taking the lead at Maidstone. The leaders are on the road for the second successive match and are 13/ 8 with Betfair to get the job done on this occasion.

They’ve scored 12 times during their four matches and will be keen to test the Boreham Wood defence. They’re priced at 11/8 to score over 1.5 Team Goals with Bet365.

Boreham Wood always make it difficult for travelling teams however and they won 4-1 in their only home match of the season so far. They have now scored four goals on successive occasions making them the second highest scorers in the league and they are 17/10 with Sky Bet to upset the early pacesetters here.

Confidence is soaring through both of these sides at the moment and Both Teams to Score is 7/10 with Bet365.

Bromley v Hartlepool
Bromley had a midweek to remember as they put Leyton Orient to the sword. The hosts moved up to 4th in the National League after sticking six past the O’s to continue their unbeaten run. They face the other relegated side on Saturday and are 6/5 to win again with Paddy Power when Hartlepool make the long journey south.

The hosts are likely to surprise a few sides this season and their scoring prowess was displayed on Tuesday with a masterclass in finishing. They are 5/4 to net over 1.5 team goals here with Bet365 whilst Over 2.5 match goals is a decent 19/20.

Hartlepool have suffered a poor start to their National League season and they’ll need to buck up their ideas if they are to return to the Football League at the first time of asking. Craig Harrison’s side sit just outside the relegation zone having acquired just two points from their opening four encounters and are 7/4 with 888Sport to finally get three points here.

Chester v Sutton
To put a positive spin on Chester’s opening three matches, they remain unbeaten! In reality, they’ve drawn three matches and only scored twice. Defensively, they appear to be much tighter than last year but they need to find their shooting boots soon. They’re 15/8 with Paddy Power to get off the mark here against a confident Sutton United.

All of Chester’s games so far have featured fewer than three goals and it is 4/5 with Betfair that Under 2.5 goals lands again here.

Sutton generally struggle on the road but surprised early market favourites Tranmere with a 1-0 win at Prenton Park last weekend. They were trailing against Macclesfield in midweek before a late fightback turned the tie around in their favour. They currently sit 2nd in the table and are the 13/10 favourites with Paddy Power to win this tie.

James Akintunde was the man to score for Chester in midweek and he is 15/8 with Bet365 to net again during the 90 minutes.

Dover v Barrow
Dover left it late to upset Halifax at the Shay in midweek. The West Yorkshire side celebrated wildly after equalising on 90 minutes before the Kent club went down the other end and netting almost immediately. It was cruel on the newcomers but showed the ruthlessness that Dover can produce and they are 5/4 favourites with Sky Bet to win this match.

Barrow are struggling for consistency and were pegged back by Solihull Moors in midweek despite taking a two goal lead much to the annoyance of boss Paul Cox. They have been inconsistent this campaign and sit mid-table having collected five points from a possible twelve. The Cumbrians don’t win many on the road but they are 37/19 to grab the spoils here with 888Sport.

Goals can be expected between two sides who struggle to keep clean sheets and Both Teams to Score is priced at 7/10 with Bet365 whilst Tuesday’s hero Tobi Sho-Silva is 21/10 to repeat his trick.

Eastleigh v Tranmere
An exasperated Mickey Mellon struggled to explain his side’s lack of composure in front of goal following back to back blanks against Sutton and Guiseley. They need to get back to winning ways and they are 13/10 with Paddy Power to make the long journey back to Merseyside with all three points here.

After keeping back to back clean sheets, Eastleigh have conceded four goals in their last two games and they will need to be at their defensive best against last season’s losing play-off finalists. They are 2/1 with Sky Bet to walk away with all three points whilst another draw is priced at 21/10.

Tranmere’s lack of recent goalscoring prowess could lead to another low scoring game and Under 2.5 goals is priced at 8/11 with Boylesports whilst it’s 22/19 with 888Sport for the match to be level at the break

Gateshead v Macclesfield
Macclesfield terrific away record took a battering from high-flying Sutton in midweek despite the Silkmen taking an early lead in the contest. John Askey’s men are a standout price of 10/3 with Bet365 to keep up their magnificent record on the road in the North East.

Since getting off to such a positive start, Macclesfield have failed to win any of their last three matches although they’ve kept a fairly tight ship conceding just three times in total and Under 2.5 Goals is priced at 7/10 with 888Sport.

Gateshead haven’t beaten Macc in the last four attempts with these sides drawing 1-1 last season and they are 21/20 with Betfair to finally get one over on the Cheshire outfit.

They’ve kept two clean sheets so far at home although they’ve only beaten struggling Guiseley and Torquay and they are 13/5 with Paddy Power to win to nil here.

Guiseley v Torquay
Despite being tipped for relegation by many pundits pre-season, Guiseley are tough to beat at home as Tranmere found in midweek. The West Yorkshire outfit lack firepower but their spirit is evident and although it was backs to the wall at times they picked up a point. They’re 6/4 with Paddy Power to follow that positive result with a victory here. Despite failing to score on the road, they’ve drawn both home matches and another stalemate is priced at 2/1 with Betfair.

Torquay manager Kevin Nicholson left his position following a sorry start to the season and will be temporarily replaced by assistant Robbie Herrera whilst they search for a replacement. The Gulls are 7/4 with Betfair to pick up an unexpected win here.

Neither side appear to have enough firepower to climb up the division imminently and it’s 7/8 with 888Sport that Under 2.5 lands in this fixture.

Maidenhead v Ebbsfleet
Maidenhead have claimed back to back victories which has seen them shoot up the table to 7th and they will be expecting to kick on here at home to fellow newcomers Ebbsfleet where they are priced up at 17/11 with 888Sport to make it a hat-trick of successes.

Ebbsfleet have shown that they are perfectly capable of competing since their arrival and Daryl McMahon’s side are unbeaten so far. They have terrific firepower having netted 10 times already and are a standout 15/8 with Bet365 to pick up an away win.

Both sides are in decent scoring form with plenty of confidence in the ranks and it’s no surprise to see Both Teams to Score chalked up at 3/5 with 888Sport.

Tuesday’s hero Dave Tarpey is 10/11 with Bet365 just to score during the 90 minutes and add to his four goals against AFC Fylde.

Maidstone v Wrexham
Maidstone showed their stubborn streak in midweek as they refused to be beaten by leaders Aldershot. They fought until the final minute, eventually rescuing a point. They are 6/5 with Sky Bet to beat the Welsh outfit at home.

Despite struggling away, their home form will be key to keeping them in the division this season and they’ve drawn both encounters 1-1 so far. The same scoreline can be backed at 11/2 with Betfair.

Wrexham beat Gateshead narrowly in midweek to pick up their second victory of the season and they are 23/10 with Sky Bet to pick up an unexpected away win.

Neither side are swimming in goals at the moment and it is 4/5 for Under 2.5 Goals to land here with Sky Bet.

Solihull Moors v Halifax
After praising his defence last week following two clean sheets, Billy Heath watched his side equalise late on before throwing it all away at home to Dover on Tuesday. Halifax need to be at their defensive best here as they aim to pick up something in the Midlands. The visitors are 5/4 with Betfair to claim all three points.

Solihull Moors have got real problems at the back currently having conceded 10 goals in their last two fixtures and Over 2.5 goals, which has landed in each of their matches so far is 4/5 with Paddy Power.

The men from the Shay will be hoping to take advantage of their hosts defensive generosity and it’s 5/2 with Bet365 for it to end all square.

Woking v Leyton Orient
Woking have proved effective on home soil this season with back to back successes in front of their home crowd. They’ve won both matches 2-1 and are yet to keep a clean sheet. They’re 37/19 with 888Sport to make it a third home victory on Saturday afternoon.

Leyton Orient were left shell-shocked after a pummelling at the hands of Bromley being hit for six. The Londoners are 11/8 with Sky Bet to bounce back here.

Having not kept a clean sheet yet, Both Teams to Score is likely to be a popular bet at 7/11 with 888Sport whilst Over 2.5 Goals is 8/11 with Betfair.
