National League Betting Preview Saturday 26th August 2017

We head into a hectic Bank Holiday period with a number of key Vanarama National League games taking place. With a Friday night match between Macclesfield v Dover before the remainder of the league play hours later. We’ve taken a look at Saturdays key Matches.

Halifax v Guiseley
A good old local West Yorkshire derby takes place at lunchtime on Saturday at the Shay with both sides buoyed by recent victories. Halifax have gradually improving across the course of the season with manager Billy Heath praising his sides defensive fragility and they kept another clean sheet in their victory against Solihull Moors. The hosts are 8/11 with Betfair to secure all three points here.

They’ve kept three clean sheets in their last five matches with only Aldershot and Dover finding a way through and Guiseley may have trouble breaching their local rivals and Halifax are 5/4 with Bet365 to keep a clean sheet here.

Guiseley are poor travellers and despite this being their shortest trip of the season they aren’t fancied by many of the bookmakers including Sky Bet who price them at 10/3 for success here.

Barrow v Maidenhead
Barrow are looking tough to beat this season with Paul Cox’s men now unbeaten in four National League matches. Cox admitted the points were there for the taking against Dover but watched as his side failed to kill off the match. The Cumbrian outfit are the favourites for this tie and are 21/20 with Boylesports for success here.

They have scored seven goals in their last three matches and are 10/11 with Bet365 to score over 1.5 goals in this game.

Maidenhead have also started the season well and certainly possess a goal-threat. They’re unbeaten in four of their last five matches and it’s 23/10 with 888Sport that they can salvage a draw from this match.

Despite their prowess in front of goal, the league newcomers are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league this season and Both Teams to Score is unsurprisingly short at 8/13 with Paddy Power.

Dagenham v Bromley
Bromley are defying their critics according to boss Neil Smith and they have certainly started this season with a bang. Despite winning three of their last four matches in the National League, Bromley can still be backed at around 7/2 with Bet365.

They have seen off the two relegated sides – Leyton Orient and Hartlepool in succession scoring eight goals in the process and Over 2.5 Goals is 8/11 with Betfred for this tie.

It looks set to be a goal-fest once again as John Still’s Dagenham have been in flying form and they’ve been scoring for fun. The Daggers are 5/6 favourites with Sky Bet but have drawn their last three matches.

The hosts certainly have an impressive array of possible goalscorers but Corey Whitely has been excellent in recent weeks netting 4 in 4 and is 5/4 to score during the 90 minutes with Bet365

Ebbsfleet v Gateshead
Ebbsfleet are another of the league’s surprise packages and remain unbeaten since their promotion. There was frustration for the visitors as they failed to finish off Maidenhead last weekend and they are 21/20 with Betfair to bounce back here.

They’ve netted 11 times so far this season across the five matches and it’s Evens with Bet365 that they score Over 1.5 Team Goals here.

Gateshead completed an impressive 3-0 win over Macclesfield last weekend as they relied on home comforts once again. Outside of the North East, they aren’t as effective but they will fancy their chances of picking up at least a point. It’s 12/5 with Betfred for the match to end in a draw.

Hartlepool v AFC Fylde
It’s been an exceptionally poor start to life in the National League for Hartlepool who have failed to pick up a victory in any of their opening five matches so far. A disappointing 2-0 defeat to Bromley saw their away day blues continue but they are the 11/10 favourites with 888Sport to claim their first victory of the campaign here.

Pool’s problem has been a lack of goals but AFC Fylde are very generous at the back and have conceded 12 goals in their five matches so far. Over 2.5 Goals is a standout price of 4/5 with Betfred for this game.

For all of the talk about Hartlepool being unable to win, AFC Fylde haven’t clinched a victory either but have drawn four of their five matches and another draw is 11/5 with Betfair here. The hosts may be affected by Padraig Amond apparently going on strike but the striker is now closing in on a transfer to Newport County.

Sutton v Maidstone
Sutton have been very impressive in recent weeks and they are wonderful at home. It’s no surprise to see them 8/11 favourites with Sky Bet here.

They’ve now won three consecutive matches and four of their first five but have only kept one clean sheet in their last four matches. If you’re seeking more value perhaps Sutton to Win and Both Teams to Score is a sensible play and it’s priced at 13/5 with Betfair.

Maidstone have lost both of their opening away matches by the scoreline of 2-0 and it’s 21/10 with Paddy Power that Sutton get the job done on the -1 handicap here.

Leyton Orient v Eastleigh
Leyton Orient are slowly starting to find their feet under Steve Davis and the O’s have won two of their last three games inbetween the 6-1 hammering at the hands of Bromley. They are back at home here and priced as 13/10 favourites with Sky Bet

The goals are starting to flow for the East London club and it’s 42/41 that they score Over 1.5 Team Goals here with 888Sport. Macauley Bonne has been excellent in recent weeks and has netted each of his side’s last three goals in the league. He is 11/8 with Bet365 to score anytime here.

Eastleigh have been in decent form as well but tend to struggle on the road and haven’t won any of their last five matches away from home. They are 15/8 with Boylesports to salvage a draw here.

Torquay v Solihull Moors
Torquay still haven’t found a replacement for Kevin Nicholson following his departure with the Gulls searching for their 11th boss in the last 7 years. It’s been a miserable start to the campaign for the Devon outfit but they will see this game as winnable and they have been priced at 20/21 favourites with Betfred.

Since holding Tranmere to a goalless draw on the opening weekend, they have seen their matches feature three or more goals and Over 2.5 is 8/11 with Boylesports here.

Solihull Moors haven’t fared any better but they’ve only played four times and picked up a single point so far. They are 9/4 to grab a draw here.

Once again, defending has been a problem for the visitors in recent matches and Both Teams to Score is a standout 7/10 with Bet365.

Wrexham v Woking
Both of these sides come off the back of a poor result last weekend with Wrexham losing 2-1 at Maidstone and they are 4/5 with 888Sport to bounce back here.

The Welsh outfits two home matches have contained just one goal so far with one win and one defeat at the Racecourse Ground and it’s Evens with Betfair for Under 2.5 Goals to land again.

Woking’s away form isn’t much to shout about as the Cards struggle for goals on the road. They are 5/2 with Sky Bet to hold out for a draw here.

The hosts won 2-1 in this fixture last season and it’s 15/2 with 888Sport for the same scoreline to occur again.

Tranmere v Boreham Wood
Things haven’t gone according to plan for Mickey Mellon and his Tranmere side in recent weeks winning just one of their opening five matches and they are currently embarking on a four match winless streak. They are 8/13 with Boylesports to win this match at Prenton Park.

They haven’t managed a goal in the last three matches and are struggling for cutting edge up top. Under 2.5 Goals is 5/6 with Betfred here.

Meanwhile, Boreham Wood have been in excellent form and are enjoying life in the National League. They’ll be keen to extend their winning run here and are a huge 4/1 to nick all three points here with Sky Bet.

Bruno Andrade has netted in each of the Woodmen’s last three matches and is 15/4 with Bet365 to score during the 90 minutes

Aldershot v Chester
Aldershot are just having a momentary wobble and are winless in their last two games after setting an early pace. They still sit prominently in 3rd position and are 4/9 favourites to win here with Betfair.

The goals tend to flow here for the hosts and it’s 7/4 with Bet365 that they score Over 2.5 Teams Goals. Gary Waddocks men are confident on their own patch and will have a point to prove following two disappointing results.
Chester are struggling for form as their results suffer a hangover from the end of last season. They are 31/10 with Betfred to salvage a draw here and they’ve picked up a point in four of their opening five matches.

Both sides have found the target in the last two Aldershot matches and in four of Chester’s five matches. It’s 5/6 with 888Sport for Both Teams to Score here.
