Many of us faced challenges in our foundational (first few) years and we struggled with them. Some of those hurdles might have changed who we are or how we later approached life. The successful incorporation into College life depends on the ability of the student to make change into the new role of a college student. There are several inside and outside issues determining the successful college experience such as student’s commitment, experience at college, academic performance, social network, peer groups, and communities outside the college.
My college, Ghousia Institute of Polytechnic, is one of the most reputed colleges in Bangalore. It is located at the main road of Koramangala. The 1st challenge was getting used to traffic while crossing the roads. Our college has well-furnished infrastructure, but I wasn’t used to such huge benches and desks. Most of the new students were from different convent school where they always spoke in English whereas I was from a Kannada Medium school. This was another challenge that I faced. Understand them was as easy as pie, but replying was an issue.
The lecturers at Ghousia College are strict when it comes to communicating in other languages. Once we enter the college premises, we were strictly given orders not to use any other language except English. These difficulties / challenges made me very strong now and I am confident enough to face the world.
