Surface Faith Believers ( Pt 1)

Surface Faith Believers ( Pt 1)

Surface Faith, you ask? Well, what is that???

It’s a faith that you want others to believe is there, but really isn’t…..you pretend!!

You’d  be surprised to know that more than some people’s  walk of faith are just on the surface.

They look and act real good to the eyes of the world, but truth be told, if anything happens that compromises them in any way they lose their (faith appearance) quicker than they put it on.

( Luke 8:13)And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away.

And, the reason for this falling away is because they haven’t allowed the Spirit of God to penetrate their souls…… they’re too concerned about their false appearance. (Hebrews 4:12)

For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even as far as the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrows, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

As I try and understand the thinking of these people….those only thinking of their false appearance……I start to see how they too…..go to church,  tithe, sing worship songs, pray over their meals,  dress to the nines, and even sport the fish decals and other bumper stickers on their cars.

They pretend big time as if they got it all together on the outside.(2 Corinthians 11: 13-15) For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

BUT!!! on the Inside, there’s no trace of God. They only model the part.

I believe they want God, (because why go through the effort) however they don’t want to fully surrender to let Him in.

because they know if they let God all the way in, they’ll begin to look & smell like Him, and if that happens, they’ll no longer be able to live a life of deceit, because His Spirit will change you from the inside out….(2 Corinthians 3:18)

So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

Why is it that becoming a believer today has become an act or facade? – instead of complete submission to everything in God’s will?

These (so – called) believer’s have no problem being seen as  (true)believers, (who walk in the light… submit to Scripture…and love their brothers and sisters in Christ)

to others on the outside –  as long as their pretending  doesn’t interfere with their real lived (sinful) lives.

(Matthew 7:15)Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

See….. true change is from the heart…. A place no one can see or measure, but God. So, go ahead and continue to ‘fake the funk” (as they say)all you want, but you’re not fooling God…

(Romans 2:29)

No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.

Surface faith believer’s only go to church to be seen, not for the message.

They come for their souls to be soothed with the beat of the music that’ll give them what they need.

They’ll desire for sermons to be short and not heavily covered with scripture, and especially not on anything that they call controversial….which is anything true…

Surface faith believers, are those who will open their Bible App and act as if they’re reading and into it, but inwardly hating every minute of it. They read (A Lot) but not from the bible…

Surface faith believers, are those who have no problem misquoting scripture and reading it out of context or adding their own meaning to fit what they think it means.

Surface faith, is when you pretend you know God because  of your many words – and quoting of scripture you don’t even understand (Matthew 6:7)And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

It’s like, when you’re trying  to start a garden and you only throw your seed on the surface, and neglect to dig down deep enough, so the seed can produce roots and  expand to make room for growth and development, hoping for the best to happen. And, because of that, the best never comes.

(Matthew 13:18‭-‬21)

“Listen, then, and learn what the parable of the sower means. Those who hear the message about the Kingdom but do not understand it are like the seeds that fell along the path. The Evil One comes and snatches away what was sown in them. The seeds that fell on rocky ground stand for those who receive the message gladly as soon as they hear it. But it does not sink deep into them, and they don’t last long. So when trouble or persecution comes because of the message, they give up at once.

Surface faith believer’s, and living for Christ…..how does that work? It can’t!!

They believe that being a believer of Jesus Christ, or a Christian is a religion.

Calling yourself a Believer or a “Christian” is having a relationship with Jesus, And, just in case y’all didn’t know, Christianity is not a religion,  it is a relationship….It’s becoming One with Jesus Christ. Christianity is Christ alive in you!! So it couldn’t work, that would seem kinda impossible…..don’t you think?

Just in case you were wondering….it is very possible for people to develop or create for themselves a  surface faith mindset, by not really wanting to develop a relationship,  but a facade…

They create their own devised ‘faith’ where it pleases the flesh and has absolutely nothing to do with the condition of their soul.

The lie the devil feeds them gives them what they want, and because they’re content in this lie, they believe it to be the peace of God.  And,

As they remain in bondage by their sin, and can’t recognize the demonic chains that grip and bind them, they catogorize it as something they dont want to be free from, but what they need and must have. (John 8:44)

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

You’ve probably heard it to be ” counterfeit faith”, a faith that does not touch them….it looks like Christianity, it feels like Christianity but it doesn’t produce anything….it’s

those that don’t come to God with all their heart….it’s when they are being led by a lying Spirit……(Matthew 15:8)

‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

It’s when they’re not  serious about their relationship with God. It’s totally different as to what they portray to others…

And believe  it or not, a relationship with Jesus  Christ is very important inorder to develop a life of real, deep seeded, down to the root faith….(john 15:5)

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Surface faith, is like when you’re introduced for the first time to something new, as a new believer….

In most churches that introduction comes with a list of “must do’s”, you’re told you have to (do), in order to look like a Christian, and a list of the don’ts…. “what (not) to do”, in order to look less like a sinner, “Oh, you know what I’m talking about”!!

Yeah, that all to familiar description that you’re told  to do or to act, and half of the time, the one telling you these things don’t even live it themselves……they tell you ( just because)

Like; develop a reading plan  with devotions or scriptures a day  (to feel like you did something),

Or; Attend church or bible study more than anything else( to show face),

How About; start memorizing  bible verses and write them down…so you start posting them on your Instagram or Facebook page to appear more   (Godly) or more into God then you really are. Yeah, all that…..

Can someone explain to me why Pretending is okay, applauded, or looked up to??

Or, why it’s okay for you to outwardly appear (somewhat different), (slightly  different), or (kinda different) from the world with a fake facade….. and its all Great!!……and all of a sudden your considered to be this powerful man or woman of God- this scripture quoting, all knowing believer, fooling almost everyone in your path….

But!! it’s not okay to be sincerely different, knowingly different, hands down different, without a facade. Living a life of   (Real / Authentic) faith and spiritual growth, but looked down upon as a fanatical person with unrealistic beliefs???

I’ll tell you why it’s not okay…… it’s not okay because, it’s not “the fad”…it’s not “the in thing”.  (Matthew 23:28)

That’s what you are like. Outside you look good, but inside you are evil and only pretend to be good.

Summed up In one word, SURFACE…….

Be Blessed…..
