Although the forced attendance on exorcism Lecture infuriated the students of a Spanish University, no one is yet to file formal complaints or attempted to be excused.
The University College of Barberan and Collan (Colegio Mayor Universitario Barberán y Collán) announced lately students are required to sign up their attendance at the seminar titled “The Evil.”
The seminar demands 196 students to be present at the lecture of Father José Antonio Fortea Cucurull. Father Cucurull is known to have written works such as “Summa dæmoniaca” which includes a manual on exorcisms.
Exorcism is a compulsory lecture at the University College of Barberan and Collan (nhne-pulse.org).
Father Cucurull’s talks is scheduled to include fields “related to the devil, exorcisms and being possessed and hell,” newspaper El Diario reported. The report added that the seminar aims to “promote intellectual, physical and moral development” of students.
Spokesperson from the university confirmed the conduct of the seminar but refused to give further details, said the same newspaper.
The university received half of its funding from the Defense Ministry of Spain and is also under the public research institute Complutense University of Madrid.
Daily Mail recalled Father Cucurull in 2010 expressed support to the Vatican during sex scandals shattering the Church. He said that accusing some cardinals as members of satanic sects are “an unacceptable distance.”
