Mysterious disappearance is the physical disappearance of people or other objects without explanation. Here are intriguing accounts of mysterious disappearances.
Owen Parfitt
Owen Parfitt was a wild boy during his teenage years. He was the son of a well-known tailor in Shepton Mallet, England. Stories circulated that while fought in war, he bedded many women.
In 1760s, Owen went home crippled with wounds and rheumatism. He then lived with his sister Mary in Shepton Mallet. One evening, Owen claimed his favorite spot of the house with the help of Mary and a neighbor. There, he seated comfortably while watching farmers do their jobs just across the road. His sister returned inside to do some chores.
A storm was coming so Mary came out to fetch his brother. But Owen was no longer in the chair. Mary knew he could not move himself. She asked the farm workers if they had seen someone come get him, but none of them had. The crippled man simply vanished without a trace.
Soon, neighbors speculated that devil or an alien kidnapped him to pay for his sins. Until today, the Mysterious Disappearance of Owen became a popular urban legend.
James Edward Tedford
The Bennington Triangle lies within southwestern Vermont. Paranormal author Joseph A. Citro called the area “Triangle of Doom,” as description to a number of Mysterious disappearances.
The Triangle is known for paranormal phenomena such as UFO sightings, Bigfoot, strange sounds, lights, shadow people, and numerous mysterious activities. The high strangeness of all stories is the baffling disappearances of people who ventured in and near the area.
One case was the mysterious disappearance of James Edward Tedford, a veteran. James went to visit to his relatives. After the visit, he got on a bus in St. Albans to Bennington Soldier’s Home. By the time the bus reached Bennington, James was surprisingly gone although his belongings were still in the luggage rack. People could not explained how he simply vanished.
Martha Wright
Jackson Wright and wife Martha was driving from New Jersey to New York City in 1975. They passed through the Lincoln Tunnel. While inside the tunnel, Jackson pulled over to wipe the condensation from the windshield. Jackson wiped the front windshield while Martha worked the back.
Few seconds passed when Jackson realized his wife simply vanished. He reported no unusual sound or activity in the tunnel at the time of her disappearance. He said it was impossible that she could have run or snatched in such a short span of time. Authorities conducted investigations but they never found Martha.
