Psalm 130 “Lord, listen to my plea!”

Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.
Psalm 130:2b

John was struggling with guilt concerning bad choices. He wanted to talk about his feelings, but no one would Listen to him. They had their own concerns and no time for John. In frustration, He cried out, “Will anyone listen to me?”

“Lord, listen to me. I need your mercy!” This was the psalmist’s Plea. He asked the Lord to hear his prayer and to grant him mercy. The psalmist was hurting within his soul and burdened by guilt. His plea expressed his need for the restoring mercy of the Lord.

How would you feel if no one responds to your pleas for help? What if they gave you the ‘silent treatment’? This rejection is painful and would cause a person to feel alone and unloved. When you are hurting and need someone to listen, who would you go to? Who would be attentive to your plea?

The Lord will listen to your pleas. He invites us to call upon him. In Psalm 50: 15, the Lord declared, “…. call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” He will never turn a deaf ear to our needs, and he’ll answer our pleas according to his will. Praise the Lord that he is never too busy to hear us! He’ll incline his ear and listen to our pleas.

Never stop calling upon the Lord and never doubt that he hears you. Even when you feel that he is silent, remember this, he hears and acts for our good.
