I once was blind....

Like millions of other people I've belted out the words to Amazing Grace hundreds of times, but I gained a whole new understanding of the song once I truly experienced the grace of God for myself.   God being the gentleman He is, didn't stop there.  He escorted me on to the next level of glory and revelation.  There's a line in the song that says.  "I once was lost but now I'm found. Was Blind but now I see"

I thought about that blindness and how I was in the dark and deceived about so many things.  In case you're confused let me lead you over to 2 Corinthians 4:4,

"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

That god of this world is still up to his old tricks and is always trying to keep people blind and bound. It's completely different to be physically blind than mentally blind.  Though I've never been physically blind, science lets me know that the other senses often heighten when your eyesight diminishes or is gone.  There are even some people who have learned to use a form of echolocation by bouncing sound off of objects to "see" what's around them.  That's not possible when your mind has been blinded.

Your mind is a huge part of what makes you who you are.  It's part of the governing body that controls the emotions, the thoughts, ideas and ideals, and your personality.  If your mind is blinded then your thought process is thrown off, which in turn skews  how you view and define everything.

This blindness is part of the reason so many people don't know the truth of who they are or whose they are.  This is the condition that allows you to be constantly fed images and ideals that you should be living out that are nowhere near the truth of who God created you to be.  That causes you to think at 4 years old you were made the wrong gender, that the institutions God ordained are subject to the will of man, that any and everything goes, and that you can disregard, taint, twist and change the word of God without consequence.  When your mind has been  blinded you try anything just to feel something, you try everything just to see what it's like, and allow your soul to become the city dump.

How then do we gain our sight?  Encountering this glorious Gospel and hearing the good news!  Jesus died for this very reason, The only way do away with darkness is by applying light.  Once we have an encounter God our lives are forever changed.  Each new encounter with God restores a bit of our sight.  Every time we encounter the truth of the Gospel, the lies of the enemy are destroyed.  The best thing about mental blindness is that any believer can apply the necessary ointment.  The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).  Each of us have been instructed and to share the Good News, so all you have to do is know it, believe it, and share it!

Light bearers come forth!  Word carriers come forth!  Preachers, teachers, prophets, ministers of the most high God come forth! The kingdom has need of you.  God has trained our hands for war and our fingers for battle. Let's go!!
