Many books and guides give different answers when it comes to colour correspondences, and I'm here to tell you why, and what is right when it comes to colour during spellwork, magick, and daily life.

As I said, this is by no means correct, nor is it finished as I intend to continue experimenting with colours to see what works and what might need changing. Use it well!

Why Different Answers?
Found one book that says love is red, but another says pink? Perhaps you used a blue candle for calming, but instead found it did the opposite? Want to know why??
Well, mainly, like everything in witchcraft, Colour correspondences are subjective. If a book says blue for calm, but you have a fear of water/drowning/hate the colour blue then it's highly unlikely to give calming energy, is it? That seems like common sense.

So how do you know what's right?
Think about it. Is red a passion, lust, and love colour? Or a passion, lust, but not love, instead angry colour? Then use it for that. If you find green doesn't work for you in a spell, think about what corresponds for you - do you see green as friendship, or yellow?
And test it out.
Soon enough, you should have a good idea (even if you don't actually experiment, just write down your thoughts) of what colours are for which correspondence. Keep this in your Book of Shadows and continue experimenting.

Eventually, you may not even need to see a guide or your previous experiences to know Colour Correspondences, because you'll intuitively know that red is love for you, and purple is sleep. There's nothing wrong with not using a reference. Nor is it a problem if you go against your favourite witchy guide book - they're just guides for you to find your own path!
What if I still don't know?
It's okay to ask for help on this, or to take a long time to figure it all out. Use references if you want to, but don't feel like you have to stick to them.
Just for you, here's a quick, simple, colour correspondence chart I have started filling in for myself. This may work for you, or it might not, and I'm not saying these correspondences will stay the same forever! They can change.
