Shree Yantra means an instrument of wealth having derived its name from ‘Shree’ meaning wealth and ‘Yantra’ meaning an instrument and hence the name. It includes both materialistic and spiritual wealth. 

Its design is a combination of nine triangles of different sizes in such a manner that their size and location together affect the position of the entire Yantra. ‘Navayoni Chakra’ is also its name due to these nine triangles. These nine triangles further form a totality of 43 smaller triangles which represents the cosmos and non duality. The core is surrounded with a lotus having 8 and 16 petals.  This is besides an earth square which is almost identical to a temple with 4 doors. 

The centre point or bindu is believed to be the source of the power and Goddess Lakshmi is represented by it. Besides Lakshmi, Goddess Tripura Sundari who is considered the beauty of the three worlds is also represented by this. The form of Shakti which is the supreme form of feminine is denoted by five downward facing triangles.  The form of Shiva who is the supreme power of masculine is represented by four upward facing triangles. Hence this Yantra is a perfect powerful blend of feminine and masculine divine. 

Several ancient texts including the Laksmi Tantram confirms that the Shree Yantra is the most loved Yantra of Goddess Laksmi who is worshipped as the supreme deity of fortune, wealth and prosperity.
