My faith in humanity is continually restored when I witness or am the recipient of a random act of kindness from a stranger. It's when we take time to do something deliberately selfless, whether big is small, that has a positive effect on others that we show who we really are.
Personally, I make it a point to greet everyone I meet and compliment strangers. It is my way of saying, "I see you."
What do you do for someone you don't know to make their day, and how often?
I've noticed that there are definitely certain places in the country where people are more inclined toward kindness. For example, in Reno Nevada, I noticed that drivers are the most courteous to pedestrians with 4 lanes stopping when someone decides to cross. I can tell you from experience that this practise is not the same most other places in the US.
In my time in the South, where gentlemen young and old give up their seat on the Metro to a lady, hold the door, and extend a hand in assistance certainly wins one's favor. What a delicious way for a woman to be treated.
Take a moment today to do something randomly kind for a stranger. These small kindnesses add up, make you feel great and demonstrate your inner love to the outward world.
