Sri Bhuvaneshwari – 4th Dasa Mahavidya: Queen of the Spritual & Materialistic Universe

The Indian Vedic Story is so enticing that it makes you swirl in its narrative when you read it. We have read about the Tridev and their female counterparts, the Tridevi: Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Parvati. However, ancient scripture encourages the wisdom seeker to read and understand Devi Shakti. The reversed sages believe that feminine energy is the seed of all creation in Hinduism. Goddess Bhuvaneshwari is the mother of the solar system and the creator of material space. She is the fourth tantric goddess of Dasa Mahavidya, an aspect of Kali, the terrifying form of Shakti.

Sri Bhuvaneshwari is the source of truth and maya—the great illusion. She sustains and protects the three worlds—heaven, earth, and space.

Origin of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari

When the whole universe was in the darkness Surya, the sun god, appeared in the heavens. The sages begged for the ultimate source of energy to create more worlds to live in.

Lord Surya was pleased with the devotion of the sages. He created the three worlds. The Supreme Energy appeared in the form of Bhuvaneshwari and protected the newly built worlds.

Story-1

Once, Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva quarreled to know who was the supreme among them. The event became too serious and unresolved.

Thus, Goddess Bhuvaneshwari took the Trinity into her abode, and allowed them to find themselves as three women attendants of creation, preservation, and destruction.

She is the bija mantra of the Maya. She makes living beings realize their true nature and helps them fade out the illusionary Maya to connect with the ultimate source of energy.

Story-2

As per one of the popular Vedic Story, goddess Bhuvaneshwari emerged from the cosmic ocean to help Lord Shiva in the battle with the demon Andhaka. She protected and provided her energy to Lord Shiva and restored balance in the universe.

Story-3

In another wonderful myth, the goddess Bhuvaneshwari once appeared before Lord Brahma. She requested that the creator of the universe grant her the power to govern the entire universe. Lord Brahma granted her wish, and thus Goddess Bhuvaneshwari became the embodiment of the universe.

It is also believed that Goddess Bhuvaneshwari has taken the form of the Goddess Earth to govern the elements. She is responsible for fertility, abundance, and growth.

As per the Rig Veda and Puranas, she is connected with the Varaha Avatar of Lord Vishnu and helped him make the earth fertile with the iccha shakti, or desire.

Bhuvaneshwari: Creator and Ruler of the Universe

According to Hindu mythology, the goddess Bhuvaneshwari is the prime force of Shakti. She manifests herself as the phenomenal universe. Devi Bhagavatam narrates that she is the supreme goddess who creates and destroys everything. Sri Bhuvaneshwari is Kali, Chandika, Parvati, Durga, and other tantric goddesses of Dasa Mahavidya.

Iconography of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari

The supreme goddess Bhuvaneshwai is depicted as serene as the dew of a cosmic aura, beautifully seated on a lotus. She has four arms and holds a noose, a book, a goad, and a rosary. Devi Bhuvaneshwari always smiles and symbolizes power, wisdom, and knowledge.

A trident or a sword symbolizes power. A noose and goad represent guidance and control. A book symbolizes knowledge. A rosary symbolizes spiritual practice.

She wears red garments and adorns a garland of skulls and various marital ornaments.

Bhuvaneshwari: Goddess of Spiritual Growth

Indian mythology narrates the vast and dynamic facts about the goddess Bhuvaneshwari. She is the ultimate source of creation and reality.

Devotees worship her to gain knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual growth. Goddess Bhaveneshwari destroys all hindrances and promotes maturity in human beings.

Devi Bhuvaneshwari is associated with the Luladhara Chakra. She stabilizes the sense of security and survival. Bhuvaneshwari, the 3th Tripura Sundari of Dasa Mahavidya, activates and balances the chakra and promotes grounding in the devotee while he practices. Therefore, she is known as the queen of the universe.

Bhuvaneshwari: Symbol of Pure Love

Devi Bhuvaneshwari is the goddess of Iccha Shakti. She creates the universe with pure love, without attachment or boundaries. She gives freedom to all her beings and plays the role of protector as well.

Bhuvaneshwari: Goddess of Infinite Space

Mother Bhavaneshwari, 4th Dasa Mahavidya and the queen of materialistic universe is the prime source of energy and the goddess of infinite space. She creates space and manifests worlds where all beings can live and thrive until they realize their true nature and merge with her.

She devolves and sustains spaces.

Devi Bhuvaneshwari manifests different stages of space, whether it is the space of the universe or the space of the mind.

Bhuvaneshwari Yantra

The Bhuvaneshwari Yantra is one of the most sacred geometrical diagrams to pray to the Goddess of the Universe. By worshiping her, a devotee can fade out the illusion of the materialist world.
