He described in detail to officers, how his mother had taken a knife and used it to scrape the back of his right hand. He said that his mother and other family members had insisted that he confess his Muslim faith.

The Charlotte Observer reported on Monday that the police checked on the boy’s wellbeing at the home, in response to a request from the boy’s employer. When the police arrived at the house just before midnight, the victim told them that his family was in the middle of beating him up.
