If you weren't registered to Vote in this past midterm elections, you are well aware of the nasty surprise we all got.

Darry Constantine is a registered Republican voter. He’s also a self-described “none of the above” kind of guy when it comes to party politics. He says he doesn’t like the way either party is governing our country, and that he’s never anticipated it being any big changes in this past midterm election.

But this year, he’s speaking on the people were manipulated to vote party lines in the midterms – and he’s not happy about it.

“Most people like me only vote because they are afraid of the consequences if they don’t,” Constantine said.

He’s not alone. A lot of people are afraid of the consequences of not voting in midterms. And with good reason: the stakes are high, and the potential consequences are dire.

So if you’re not registered to vote, or if you’re undecided about whether or not to vote in the midterms or any other election in the future, this should help you bring more clarity about it. Constantine was recently a guest on the God Pill Wisdom Podcast with Marcus Hart and Augustus V.

 It’s easy to feel like your vote doesn’t matter when your candidate loses, especially in close races. But the thing is, every vote does matter – even if it doesn’t seem like it at the moment. When you take into account the Electoral College, the fact that many elections are decided by a handful of votes, and the fact that voter turnout in the United States is notoriously low, it’s easy to see how every vote can have an impact. There have been several elections in which the outcome was decided by a single vote. In 2000, George W. Bush won the Electoral College vote by just five votes. In 2002, the Democrats won control of the Senate by a single vote. And in 2014, David Cameron became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom by just six votes. So if you’re thinking that your vote doesn’t matter, think again. It might not seem like it at the moment, but every vote counts. 

The 2020 presidential election is historic. It's the first time a woman has been nominated by a major party and it's one of the most contentious elections in recent memory. But despite all the excitement, many people are still not sure if they should vote. After all, what difference can one vote make?

The truth is every vote matters. In the 2016 presidential election, Trump won the election with a total of 306 electoral votes. That may seem like a lot, but it's just a slim majority of the 538 total electoral votes. In other words, Trump won the election by a margin of just 44 votes. If just 44 people had voted differently, we could be living in a very different world right now.

So if you're thinking about sitting out more elections, remember that your vote could be the one that makes all the difference.

Darry Constantine reacts to the consequences of not voting and he has some interesting things to say about it. He's found that people who don't vote are more likely to be poor, to have lower levels of education, and to be less engaged in their communities.

"These are the people who are the most vulnerable in our society," Constantine says. "And they're the ones who are least likely to have their voices heard."

Constantine's research shows that not voting can have lasting consequences on people's lives. So if you're thinking about skipping the polls again, remember that your vote could make a difference.

 “If everyone took the position that their vote wouldn’t make a difference, then democracy would be in danger,” Constantine said. He goes on to say that look at how lucky we were to win the election by the popular vote in 2016,” he said. “[If you don’t vote, you are giving up your right to have a say] and as men especially we have to try harder.” Constantine urges everyone to take the effects of not voting seriously and to make their voices heard in the next election. “[We can't allow ourselves to be an extension of the media and nationalize ourselves by voting in the interest of the powers that subjugate us to more moral decline in our country]". The most important thing is to make your voice heard,” he said. “If you don’t vote, you can’t complain.”
