Maybe We Haven’t Come So Far…

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun” ~ Ecclesiastes 1:9

Recently, while driving to work I had heard a radio host suggest that maybe the Human race has not advanced as much as we think we have. I mean, yeah. We got cards, cool knick-nacks, gizmos, and what-nots. But we have nothing that hasn’t been seen in one form or another.

Thousands of years ago, humans created one of the most profound forms of communications. They inscribed pictures onto small tablets for everyone to see. Today, one of the primary forms of Communication between person to person is to send pictures over small tablets we know as phones. Emojis, selfies, and simple communication.

We have taken one large circle and ignore the fact that we end up in the same place. A place where face to face communication felt it needed to be substituted with photos.

Perhaps these “inventions” do set us on the right track and perhaps they do not. But I this truth up to say the following. Whatever the world devises is foolishness’ in the shadow of what God has already created. The world, the universe, and the Gospel which saves us frivolous beings from mundane lives and impending death.

Our Wisdom is shallow, repetitive, and fleshly. But the wisdom of God? Rich. Superior. Unsearchable (Ephesians 3:8).

Unsearchable does not mean unattainable however as God has offered a wealth of wisdom by access to His Spirit and the Word which He spoke. The question is, what things will fascinate us most? The will of God or a vain fixation with modern day hieroglyphics? The Cross is power to us and we need to share it with those who may regard it as folly, leaving God to express His otherworldly wisdom which comes as simply as saying, I believe what Jesus did (1 Corinthians 1:18).

He died. He was buried. He rose again. All for me. I believe (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
