The Lucky Ones

“Thems that die’ll be the Lucky ones” ~ Robert Louis Stevenson, Treasure Island

My favorite fiction Story of all time is Treasure Island. It is an incredible story of men who seek treasure but shows the ultimate futility of the search. It also shows the truth that good men are rewarded for their deeds and bad men will receive just recompense. It may not be as much about being lucky, but blessed!

With some maneuvering, this story reflects an interesting Scriptural truth that in Christ, there is an ultimate reward for those who seek goodness, and although the wicked do well in life initially, their effort is in vain. The godly will win out in the end as the Body of Christ has been granted the greatest of rewards-

Heavenly inheritance as coheirs with Christ (Ephesians 1:3)!

With this truth, we can relate to the apostle Paul who states confidently, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). We have assurance of life in this life and the next. We have already ascertained the treasure provided by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and believe in it thereof. Therefore, have no fear (2 Timothy 1:7)!

Live confidently (Proverbs 3:26)!
