Chemistry in the Bible #6: Bonds

“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness” ~ Colossians 3:13-14

Chemistry is a beautiful science. The sciency definition of Chemistry is the science that studies the interaction between matter and energy. I think of chemistry more so as the study of how God keeps the world unsyncopated and orderly.

One of the ways that universe around us is held together is by bonds. The term “bond” always indicates a closeness, an agreement, and or joint together.

A bond is what ties the world together. It makes individual atoms, build into the complex structures and things that we need to live and the people that we Love. Bonds make everything.

In the Body of Christ, we have a bond that ties us together. It is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit as an individual member of the Triune Godhead. God is love (1 John 4:16). A graceful love know as charity which we must choose to put on everyday, as charity is a Holy lifestyle that edifies the Body of Christ.

Fellowship between believers is a criteria of the Church. We are to forbear with one another, equip charity, and preferring one another. This looks like kind affection and obedience to what we know as the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” We see this rule showcased in Luke 6:31.

Yes, love is a rule for the Christian, not the exception, and love is the bond which ties us together perfectly. This is true despite what age we live in Christian history. Like in chemistry, when a bond is made, energy is released. When a bond is broken, energy is released.

No matter how we deal love, their is a powerful energy that is being harnessed and we need to be sure we are using it as God intends and for His glory. Therefore, put on charity and increase your chemistry with the Body of Christ and your faith in Jesus Christ who resides in you (Ephesians 5:18).

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth” ~ William W. Purkey
