A Comeback

“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:20

Ahead of his 2011 season with the Colts, Peyton Manning, underwent spinal fusion surgery. Come 2012, with Manning healing, the Colts had a failure of season ending with 2 wins and 14 losses.

There are not many athletes who can be injured severely, heal, and then come back better before. But Peyton Manning did just that.

Come 2013, Manning being cut from the Colts in favor of Andrew Luck, went with the Denver Broncos with all eyes on him and if he would ever play the way he once did.

Coming back from his injury, his first year he once again a top passer and the following year he set offensive milestones by throwing for 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns. Then finishing his already stellar career, he led his team to a 2016 Super Bowl win.

Christianity is a faith of healing and reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:11-21). To a people once injured and enslaved by sin, a new life with incredible healing is offered by the work of Jesus Christ. By the work of Christ, we can have an incredible “comeback” from where we once started. But all too often, following their healing, believers don’t lead the charts for Christ, rather they prefer to ride the bench and stay safe.

At full health, vigor, and by the power of Scripture and the Holy Spirit, we have the opportunity to get in the game and preach the Gospel (2 Timothy 2:15)! Do not stay down, when you are all too healthy (Colossians 3:16)! Get in the game, proclaim, and win them souls as ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). A great comeback!
