Equity

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” ~ Galatians 3:28

There is a recent phenomena that is being seen in recent culture, but is indistinguishable from another phenomena that has been the goal for many years. That phenomena is the idea of Equity.

In recent years, equity has been a word that only bankers and business people see; nonetheless, with many of the political movements of the day so many people have made mention of equity alongside equality.

Simply put, in sociology equality is the final product where two or more human differences have been made equal through a change in heart, social policy, or thinking. In America, many think to the changed America following The Civil Rights Act of 1964. This law claims all men are created equal and legally prohibits discrimination based on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, and or national origin.

Equity is something distinctly different. Equity is the process by which equality is seeded. This idea usually is discussed when showing the different locations, circumstances, and ideas that set two or more people apart.

In the large scale, all men are equitable from the moment they are born in that they are born into a sinful and depraved condition. All people are equal. From here, people are born into different circumstances, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, and so forth. For thousands of years, people were born into two groups and only one of them could be saved. The Jews were God’s people and everyone else were dogs.

There was a chasm between the Jews and the Gentiles and then something changed. Christ came and bridged a chasm in the ultimate act of equity and made all equal at the foot of the Cross, by the power of His Resurrection. There was no longer male, female, slave, free person, Jew, or Gentile (Colossians 3:11).

The mystery had been revealed and all were made equal by the fellowship of the mystery (Ephesians 3:9). Humanity had achieved equality by the equity of Christ’s sacrifice. The most equalizing event in human and Heavenly history, Christ performed and Christ had finished.

Now we live justified, sealed, and coheirs with Jesus! By the equity of Christ’s blood, we have all been made equal (Proverbs 22:2; Romans 2:11)
