“15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” ~ 2 Corinthians 3:15-17
As a teacher, I strive to make complicated things simple. This is the role of teacher simply put. As students grow up, from preschool all the way to graduation, teachers take an idea and build, build, build until the all of a sudden, students gain clarity.
For example, kindergarteners begin learning their animals. Moving on, in comes 5th grade and then students learn about cells, tissues, and maybe some organs like the brain and the heart. Then in 7th grade, the topic gets narrower and students learn about organelles. Still yet, here some’s high school and the students learn about what the organelles do and on, on, and on it goes till eventually.
The student understands. The student understands what makes life. The student knows how it works. And the truth is beautiful.
Life is beautiful.
In the same way, for so long, Jews sought to work their way to God by keeping the Law. The worked, tried to keep the Law, added their own touches to the Law, muddled the Law, and were so deceived that when Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law, they couldn’t even tell.
They’re sight was veiled. Everything they learned, they had not pulled together.
The Word of God reads,
“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ” ~ Galatians 3:24-27
But for those who believe on and in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, everything changes. The Schoolmaster, the Law, brings you to Christ and shows your need for Christ. It is all the preliminary lessons.
But then by grace, we are justified. We have clarity, peace, and above all liberty. And where the Spirit of the Lord is, their is liberty forevermore (2 Corinthians 3:15-17).
