“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” ~ John 1:14

The Gospel is something often described as beautiful and simple. Well, it should be simple. But it is described in so many ways.

It has been describe as music. “The music of the Gospel leads us home.” ~ Frederick Faber

It has been described as a social program as in the case of Charles Oliver Brown and his “social gospel.”

It has been described as something you work for.

And these all sound good and nice, but the Bible, rightly divided, describes the Gospel as belief in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Timothy 2:15).

The Gospel is not just a sweet song. We can’t work a version of the Gospel to earn favor with God. The work is already done. Humanity was in need of a real world superhero in a world where no hero could make them right with God. Except for God.

So no, we are not the hero of our own story and no we cannot play God like a Heavenly harp. We can only say God, I believe. We can only say God, thank you.

It was all God. No other. By His Son Jesus Christ, we have a true, authentic, and truly simple Gospel.
