Multiplication Madness

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. ~2 Corinthians 4:16

When I was in 5th grade, I was training for competition. I mean seriously training. Day after day, I put in reps. Week after week, I did sets. Sets of Multiplication problems.

And boy, was I good.

This was years before I got into competitive sports. But Multiplication Madness was the deal. I was the real deal.

Multiplication Madness was a county wide competition where one class from each school met in a central location and had a show down to who could recite, at random, their multiplication tables the quickest.

We didn’t really think. We just regurgitated. The same things we saw and heard everyday.

And that is just like so many other things I have worked on in my life, including ministry. Before I looked more critically at my set of beliefs, I said what I heard at church, I ministered how I was taught to minister, I tithed what I had because I heard 10% was God’s magic number.

That He would love me more if I gave more. That more people would be saved if I just did so and so 7 step ministry plan.

But no, my prayer is that ministers move away from earthly and fleshly spiritual business models and move to giving the Gospel unadulterated. That is, Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again- For you (Romans 5:8).

Because He love you (John 15:13). This isn’t something regurgitated. It is a constantly new message that makes constantly renewed people, who love lost people (2 Corinthians 4:16). Who relate to lost people knowing that their is a God that loves them.
