Going Home part 1

The Shadow series has gone on for longer than expected but it’s opened up a whole new perspective on the spiritual journey. My synchronicities at the moment heavily involve rainbows (and perhaps this symbolism has been with me since being a kid as I was relatively obsessed with the film The Wizard of Oz!). Somewhere Over The Rainbow has just come on the radio!

If I’m being totally honest, part of the attraction of vanlife is possibly chasing my rainbow. Finding that utopian place where the scenery is stunning and peaceful and the people around you are on the same (good, your) wavelength. If I think back to the various spots we’ve stayed in, one in particular stood out for its beauty. 10/10 for scenery. How about the people? We were there in the height of summer and the spot was relatively crowded so there were things that reduced my idyll. Nothing major, just life in any community. A Annoys B with noise late in the evening, B annoys A with opening and closing van doors early in the morning and C annoys everyone going swimming in the middle of the night! Today’s featured quote so brilliantly expresses that this paradisiacal place may not exist here on Earth because we’re all human, with our so-called good bits and bad bits. As the psychologist/spiritual author Thomas Moore explains in his book about The Dark Night Of The Soul “However you present yourself to the world, on some level you are a dark person… Anyone passionate about life is neither all good nor all evil.”

I have realised through the recent posts that, like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, I’ve been subconsciously clicking my heels and reproducing a wish? need? call? to “go home”. But what does going home mean? More in the following post…
