Wild Animals

I hadn’t planned on publishing today but when I heard it was Blue Monday…I’ve posted on the realms of spirituality and mental health before because it interests (and sometimes saddens and frustrates) me greatly how depending on the observer or even the person living the experience, the conclusions and perceptions differ. Dark Night or depression? Medium or psychotic?

Only the other day, part of a Book I was reading highlighted this fine line. It was a psychological book and one part talked about the biblical character, Ezekiel and how he probably had some kind of neurological disorder, perhaps epilepsy or psychotic episodes. I wasn’t too familiar with Ezekiel and my curiosity lead me to flick through his book in the Bible. My gaze fell on a part talking about the four worst punishments that would fall on a country that had sinned and needed regeneration. Thinking about the current situation in the Western ‘developed’ world, we’re on 3 out of 4: war, pandemic and famine (even if the latter is on a much reduced scale compared with developing countries). Who would ever have imagined pre 2020 what awaited us? So what next? Wild Animals? Ezekiel was considered a prophet in his time but seemingly would be diagnosed with some condition in today’s world.

The last post contained a wish for compassionate, empathic world leaders. A second wish is that Western healthcare professionals acknowledge and embrace the existence, importance and challenges of spirituality in an individual’s context. Physical, psychological and spiritual are all parts of a whole person and the biopsychosociospiritual model pigeonholes far less.

PS on the night of January 12th, I awoke with a sensation of my body vibrating. It wasn’t unpleasant at all but strange enough to make me look into the possible reason. Physical suggested a symptom of long COVID, psychological suggested anxiety and spiritual suggests an energetic reset and 12th January was considered a highly energetic day. Who knows? Obviously any symptoms should be monitored – I can’t stress this enough – but an openness to causes may help increased well-being.
