Bhagavatgita - How To Understand

Throughout Bhagavatgita you can see that Lord Krishna has discussed about two types of Yoga. One is Gnanayoga or sangyayoga the other one is Karma yoga or yoganishtai. To attain the lotus feet of God, shastras describes three ways. They are Gnana, Bhakthi and Karma. But Geeta discusses only two ways because Bakthi yoga is mixed with the other two ways.

The narration of Bhagavatgita happens in the battlefield of Kurukshetra between Kauravas and Pandavas.

It is the hesitation of Arjuna to wage a war against Kauravas, made Lord Krishna to advise Arjuna on why he should not get back from the war because he is facing difficulty to kill his own brothers, gurus and close relations.

He says how Karma is very important for Kshatriyas to participate in the war and not to get back. Bhagavatgita is a big Ocean and every time you read or re read you get new ideas and concepts out of it. I am writing this blog just to share what I have understood from the book. I had the privilege to read the book completely once and I was so absorbed by the content the Gita gives us.

There are lot of great things told about Gita in comparison with other holy things and it is described in such a way that always gita out stands the other. For example Gita is superior to River Ganges as Ganges gives mukthi (Salvation) to people who only go to Kasi and take a dip in her. But Gita comes to all the houses and gives mukthi.

Another one is Person who chants the Gayathri only will get mukthi but gita will give mukthi to everyone whether he reads it or hears it. Ok now what is mukthi? (Salvation) and why this is our purpose of life. Let us discuss about this in our next blog.

You can give me your feedback and thoughts  in the comments section. Let us make it interactive. I am just sharing my thoughts and views about Bhagavatgita as i have understood. Share your views also so that we can exchange ideas.

See you
