Biblical Chastity: Jesus, Abstinence, And The Bible

Tags: jesus hath bible

In this life, we may come to understand many things about the Truth. Jesus and the Bible teach us many things about abstinence. The only thing required? Become as a little child. Hmm. The simplicity that is Christ. What is it about little children? That is a key to understanding how simple it actually is. Trust in the Father, be willing to relearn all that you thought to be true, and believe what the Spirit is telling you. The flesh lusts against the Spirit and vice-versa. Everything that we every believed to be true, is mostly a lie. Jesus is the only Truth, and in His Word is eternal life. Stop trusting in those teaching you the Gospel. You are able to acquire understanding with only a little guidance. “Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them. And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.” – Isaiah 34:16-17.

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: – 1 Thessalonians 4:1-3.

Jesus, in multiple places has said this in very similar ways, “But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him DENY himself (to deny utterly, that is, disown, ABSTAIN: – deny), and take up his cross (that is, SELF DENIAL), and Follow me (to be in the same WAY with. that is, to accompany, specifically as a disciple).” – Matt 16:23-24 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the WAY, the Truth, and the life.” See the below Screenshots for reference.

Why does Jesus, the Word of God, and the Apostles all tell us to abstain from fornication, or more specifically to abstain from sex? There are endless places within the Bible that bear out Biblical Abstinence. Why does 2 Corinthians 4:4-6 say this, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them?” Who is the god of this world? What does that actually mean? Why did Jesus as well say this in John 8:44-45, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do… And because I tell you the Truth, ye believe me not?” Now it is time to sit down, collect yourselves, fasten your seatbelts, and understand the profundity of Isaiah 61:1 which states, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.” In which Jesus himself repeats in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

I am going to ask a very simple question. One, that requires thought on your part. Who are the captives, who are the blind, and who are the bruised? Jesus knew the answer to this question. Do you? Did Jesus tell us the answers plainly? Did He explain everything that we needed to know within the four Gospels? Have we sought out the answers? Do we know them? During the time that Jesus Christ was preaching upon this earth, the Jewish nation was expecting a Messiah that would free them all from the Roman occupation. Yet, He did not. So, who are the captives? Where did these captives come from? Is it plausible than that we are all captives? What if we were all blind? What if we were all bruised? Would the Bible bear out in numerous places the answers to these questions?

In Luke 9:58, Jesus tells us, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” Let us know review the previous post, A Man Of Sorrows. “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” – Ephesians 5:14-21.

To add to A Man Of Sorrows, a good place to continue would be, What Is Truth In The Bible? The Bible tells us, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” What did we turn away from? Is it possible that we are all walking after our own way, after the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience? Let us finish this Bible Abstinence post with the following, “For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.” – Matthew 19:12.

My friend Jamie Black did a guest blog back in August titled, From The Beginning It Was Not So. The only question now is, are you ready to receive it?
