- We Serve A Wonder-Working God

"...because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort." (Daniel 3:29)

God is wonderful. I think that's the best description of God that exists. He is wonder personified. Everything about Him is filled with wonders. You see, the things that are natural to God are supernatural to us. What we call miracles are the daily experience of His estate. For instance, the scripture tells us that in heaven there is no need for a sun because He is light enough. Imagine the sun disappeared for a whole day and yet your city was still lighted up, we'd all gather and term the phenomenon a miracle. But it's something that God on a normal day exudes. Like I said, He is just sublimely wonderful. And the signs of His wonderfulness are all around us.

The King Nebuchadnezzar, to whom the theme scripture is credited to, said it best: he said, "How great are His signs! And how mighty are His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation." (Daniel 4:3). His works are self-evident and His power matchless.

However, through Nebuchadnezzar's life, we can pinpoint two marvellous things only God can do:

1. He has the sole power to dethrone to the very bottom and the power to uplift to the very top. He proved this with the king. Took him from his glories to the gutters and seven years later back to the throne without contest. Despite all the counsel privy to Nebuchadnezzar, he couldn't evade it; and all this God did just to affirm the truth that the kingdoms of the world belong to Him first and no one else (Daniel 4:17). He gives it to whom He will; and when He does, not even the devil can object to it. That's the God you Serve. The God who lifts one up and brings down another (1 Samuel 2:6-7). This is enough reason to never doubt that He can change your story in a twinkling of an eye.

2. He has the sole power to tell the beginning from the end. Nebuchadnezzar knew twelve months prior that he'd behave like the beasts of the field according to what the prophet said, and thus couldn't believe the prophecy would ever come true. Maybe God would change his mind, he might have thought. But he also didn't know that in the same time he'd be ascribing God's glory to himself as Herod did in Acts 12:23. Yet he did (Daniel 4:30-36), bringing the prophecy to light. God sees your tomorrow right in today. So HE's the one that can help you avoid the bad and attain the good. Only Him. He knows the end of the journey before it is even begun. It's like an author; only he knows how his book ends before it is written. Same way, God is an author. The author of all lives. So you've got to trust Him. He knows what He's doing.

Take wisdom from these examples, and realize that the God you serve is all the help you need. Do trust Him because with Him wonders never cease.
