- God Is Not A Man, He Won't Let You Down
"God is not a man that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?" (Numbers 23:19)
A lot of people have been Disappointed at various stages of their lives. Some by loved ones, others by strangers they'd believed could turn out different who never did. These disappointments overtime create a huge gulf in their hearts that make it impossible to trust anymore. Not a new partner in a new relationship; not a buddy who says "I've got your back." They just don't trust as easily as they once did because they don't want to be disappointed as they once were.
Well guess what? God isn't like any of those guys. He won't let you down. You might not believe but HE won't. That's the essence of that opening scripture. He's saying "I'm not like your dad, I'm better than a dad. Your dad may have abandoned you when you were just a kid, but I will not leave you comfortless (John 14:18); no, I will be with you till the very end of the world (Matthew 28:20)." He's saying "I'm not like that friend who betrayed you just to get ahead. No...I'm a friend who's willing to lay down my very own to ensure you have yours." All of these God has proven; and so I want you to be assured that He won't let you down. He won't let your family down. He will be there when you need Him the most.
The Bible says He is a standby; a very present help in the time of trouble (Psalm 46:1). That means when the road gets tough and you're finding it hard to move on, you don't have to peer around looking for help because He's already right there in the mire with you. He was with Joseph in the dungeon, favouring him in the midst of the hardships, the Bible says (Genesis 39:21-23). He was with David in his time of vagrancy, rescuing him from all the plots of the enemy, and so confessed "I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of the horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings." (Psalm 40:1-2). So trust Him, He will be right there with you too, helping you.
My friend, if there's one thing I'm certain God will never do to those who love Him, it is letting them down. He won't. I don't care how bad your situation may look, He will not let you down. The world may crumble into dust, the sun might disappear in a moment, but God will not let you down. The strong lions might die of starvation, but He will not let you down. He said He will constantly have His eyes on you to make sure you are never shaken to the ground (2 Chronicles 16:9). But here's the one I like the most: He said, "...If you can break my Covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant..." (Jeremiah 33:20-21). And recall we are all from the lineage of David through Christ; and so that covenant stands with us as well. Hence believe me, or better yet believe God, He will not let you down.
