- All Eyes On You

“Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

When you sneak into a supposedly Hidden place or in the best of your craftiness commit a sin believing no one saw you, you’re wrong. Totally wrong. No man may have seen you, but many in the audience of the other realm see you. Nothing is hidden under the sun, the scripture says, and that’s just how it is.

The Bible calls us spectacles to angels. Do you know what that means? They watch us like a movie all the time. And then there’s God whose eyes are stayed on us (2 Chronicles 16:9). So we can’t hide. God sees everything. Everything we do. There’s no avoiding Him. No “don’t let Him see”. He sees it all. Little wonder He says through Paul, “Don’t be deceived, God cannot be mocked. Whatsoever a man sows so shall he reap.” (Galatians 6:9).

Thus, I adjure you, as much as you can, live a life worthy of Praise. If you have an addiction, ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you to break free. You can also hang around good friends, God-loving friends, to take your mind off whatever it is that has you in that bondage. Make it a habit till you break free completely. Whatever sin that easily gets you, do well to stay far away from. Avoid its triggers. People or otherwise.

Work on your mind till it agrees with the plan (Philippians 4:8). And the plan is to please God, and anything that has to go to achieve that, at least temporarily, must go. As Jesus insinuated, your life is a lamp that isn’t hidden (Matthew 5:15). Everybody can see it in the heavens; and it is designed to bring praise to God (v.16).

Hence, knowing this, live an intentional life that brings praise to God. I know it’s not easy. I struggle myself, and still do. I still gripe most days when in need like a lot of people do. I’m not perfect, so you don’t have to kill yourself whenever you feel bad for feeling imperfect sometimes; but that’s the point. The Lord says in our weakness, His strength will be perfected (2 Corinthians 12:9). Take cognizance of this truth and advantage of His strength to beat down that urge to sin; that at the end our lives may be a cause to glory in Christ. Amen.
