If you’re a Pilot, there are a lot of things to worry about up in the skies.

Stalling your aircraft is one of them.

If your plane no longer has enough lift to keep you flying, it will falter and enter an aerodynamic stall. You need to take corrective action, and fast.

So how does a pilot get out of a stall?

Nose down, full throttle.

This means the pilot must push the Nose of the plane downward and give the engines full power.

To a layperson, this course of action seems scary and counter-intuitive. Surely the last thing a pilot should be doing when they’re in trouble is aiming the plane toward the ground at full speed?

It may seem nerve-wracking, but it’s the only way to get out of a stall. Going nose down, full throttle will give the plane the needed airspeed to regain lift and get out of the stall. Then, the pilot can resume level flight and continue on the desired Flight Path.

In life, too, sometimes we need to do something that scares us a little in order to get out of trouble.

Like when we sin or make a mistake that we know would displease God.

Our instinctive reaction might be to hide from Him in fear, like Adam and Eve did after they’d eaten the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.

In our case, we might start avoiding prayer and reading the Bible. We might withdraw from contact with Christian friends and even start skipping church.

Anything to keep our sin secret and avoid confessing it to God.

But this won’t solve anything. It will just make matters worse until we lose control of our lives and deviate so far from our flight path that recovery seems unlikely.

The only solution is to head straight toward God at full throttle.

We need to confess our sins quickly to our Heavenly Father. It might seem scary to tell God what we’ve done, but He already knows. We shouldn’t feel anxious about admitting to God that we’ve failed in some area. Scripture tell us that:

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

The only way you’ll get forgiveness and relief from your guilt is to aim straight for your Heavenly Father without delay.

“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” (Psalm 143:10)

So don’t “stall” for time when you need to confess your sins to God. He loves you and is ready and willing to forgive you.

He’ll right your craft and set you back on the proper flight path!
