Healing Drug Addiction with Reiki

Healing Drug Addiction with Reiki Reiki has been used for many centuries to treat a variety of ailments, ranging from relatively minor cuts and wounds to more serious issues like renal failure and cancer. But reiki can also be utilized to help encourage healing from issues like drug addiction. Drug addiction is a very complex process with many variables, and the only real way to cure it is with dedication, determination, and willpower. Holistic healing modalities, like reiki, can be fantastic for helping to encourage a drug user on the road to recovery. How Can Reiki Help With Drug Addiction? Reiki is a form of energy medicine. Its ability to heal lies in the fact that it can help redirect, generate, and transfer energy between a practitioner, a patient, and the universe. Many traditional forms of medicine, especially TCM, recognize that the body has a number of energy points and ‘lines, known as meridians. Obstructions and blockages of these meridians can lead to mental and physical health problems - such as addictions. One of the ways that reiki can help with drug addiction is by encouraging the proper flow of energy throughout the mind and body. What Will Reiki Do? The important thing to note is that reiki isn’t just going to heal a drug addiction. There’s no magic cure for an addiction - the key lies in understanding the processes that lead to addiction so that a person can work through these problems and overcome them. In this sense, reiki treatment may not actually be comfortable. The actual reiki session will likely be fine, but the unblocking of stagnant energy can often lead to difficult situations. A forgotten memory may surface, for example, or an unresolved trauma or karmic pattern may relentlessly force its way back into your life. While these things may seem difficult and undesirable, they are actually necessary steps on the road to recovery. Drug addiction is tough, and often messy - and so are the mental and emotional problems that lead to addiction. Resolving these problems can be hard work! Another thing that reiki can be useful for is helping people to work through drug withdrawals. Drug withdrawal occurs when a person stops using a drug (prescription or otherwise) that their body has become fully adapted to. As their body gets used to working without the drug, many symptoms can occur - ranging from sweating and shaking to nausea and vomiting. It’s important to note that Reiki should not be used in serious cases of withdrawal, especially from opioid or GABA-ergic drugs like alcohol, benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium), or piperazine. Withdrawal from these drugs can be very serious and, in the case of GABAergics, even fatal. Conclusion Drug addiction is a very difficult problem to work through, but with determination and willpower, it can be done. Reiki can be an effective tool for helping to encourage struggling drug users to make the changes that they need to get sober.
