“Harvest Jamboree with Drive by Todd”
THOMASTON — Higher Vibes hosts the Purple Harvest Jamboree with Downeast Dead and Drive by Todd on Saturday, Oct. 23rd and Sunday, Oct. 24th.
A two-day event with craft vendors, energy healers, reflexology, live music and sales and freebies on both sides of the store.
Day one features Down East Dead, a Grateful Dead tribute band from coastal Maine, from noon-4:20 p.m..
Day two features local alternative rock trio Drive by Todd, from 1:00-4:20 pm.
Higher Vibes is a local family owned cannabis and crystal shop, that offers herbal remedies, spiritual incense, handmade jewelry and healing crystals to aid you in your health practice.
Drive by Todd is a Maine based female fronted alternative rock band with hard hitting vocals, heart thumping drums and guitar solos that give you goosebumps.
Drive by Todd is this year’s first place winner for Best Local Band in the Knox County Best of the Best People’s Choice Awards.
This will be their last live show of the season.
Books by the Bag sale in Rockland
ROCKLAND — Friends of the Rockland Public Library will hold its Books by the Bag sale at the Flanagan Community Center on Limerock Street in Rockland, just around the corner from the library. Bring a bag and fill it up for just $10.
The sale will run from 1:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.
For friends members, early bird shopping will be open from 1-1:30 p.m. friday and from 8:30-9 a.m. Saturday.
Tables will be refreshed with new books each day, plus there will be a selection of gently used toys for sale. A curated “book-tique” will offer individually priced rare and unusual books to shoppers.
Masks and social distancing are requested from all attendees.
“Name Our Blend” contest
ROCKLAND – MCH Meals on Wheels and Rock City Coffee are collaborating on the creation a custom coffee blend to benefit the MCH Meals on Wheels program.
Name our Blend contest
The “Name Our Blend” contest, which will run through October 31, is actively soliciting the community for creative names for this new dark roast blend. The winner will receive three 12oz bags of the new coffee.

Once the new name has been chosen, the coffee will be available at all Rock City Coffee locations and online at RockCityCoffee.com as of November 1. Rock City Coffee will be donating 10% of all the sales of this blend to the MCH Meals on Wheels program.

MCH Meals on Wheels, a non-profit organization committed to delivering hot, home-cooked, well-balanced meals Monday through Friday to people in need in every corner of Knox County.
MCH, Inc. is an independent, non-profit community service organization whose mission is to empower individuals—primarily older adults and people with disabilities — to maintain independent, active lives by providing access to affordable housing, meals and other supportive services. To help accomplish this mission, they are also the provider of Meals on Wheels for all of Knox County.
Coastal Children’s Museum “Monster Mash at the Museum”
ROCKLAND — The Coastal Children’s Museum — located at 75 Mechanic Street next to Snow Marine Park — will host “Monster Mash at the Museum” Saturday, Oct. 30, from 4-6 p.m.
The museum closes at 2 p.m. in preparation for the event, which will have “spooky” crafts, music, monster activities, a mad science lab and more.
Costumes are encouraged at this event, and everyone who wears a costume will be entered into a raffle for free passes to the museum.
Regular admission is $8, and member admission is $6.
Everyone over the age of two must wear a mask.

Peoples United Methodist Church Trunk or Treat
SOUTH THOMASTON — The Peoples United Methodist Church will host a Trunk or Treat Sunday, Oct. 31, from 4-5:30 p.m.
The event will be outside and COVID-19 protocols will be followed.
Peoples United Methodist Church is located on Chapel Street.
Trunks for Treats program
ROCKLAND —The Aldersgate United Methodist Church — on route 17 across from Lake Chickawaukie — will host its annual Trunks for Treats program for children up to sixth-grade on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 4-6 p.m.
The event is free and everyone is invited to come in costume.
All activities will be outside. Car trunks will be decorated and open for trick or treating.
Non-costume masks are to be worn to observe COVID-19 safety.
Owl’s Head Garden Club
OWLS HEAD —The Owl’s Head Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Community Building, at 224 Ash Point Drive, Owl’s Head.
Tom Mullin, recently appointed Executive Director of the Herring Gut Learning Center located in Port Clyde, will speak about the Center and its post pandemic plans. He will share the story of the Learning Center as it approaches its 25th anniversary, and how it is emerging from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mullin came to the Herring Gut Learning Center after 21 years at Unity College. Serving as an Associate Professor of Parks and Forest Resources, he has extensive experience in nonprofit management, environmental education and visitor interpretive services. He serves on numerous state and national professional association boards of directors, including, the National Association for Interpretation, the Washburn Norlands Living History Center and the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.
The meeting is open to the public. All attendees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and must wear masks. Owls Head Garden Club welcomes new members from the Midcoast area.
