(Name of Groom) AND (Name of Bride)

MARRIAGE SERVICE Date: ( )

TO AUDIENCE:

Ordained Minister: You may be seated!

Friends, we are gathered here today in the sight of Mother, Father God, and the presence of friends and loved ones to celebrate one of life’s greatest moments, to give recognition to the worth, beauty, and the power of LOVE; and to add our best wishes and blessings into the words, which shall unite (Name of Groom and Name of Bride) in a ‘Spiritual Union’ of two Souls in Sacred Marriage, under God (outside/nature).

Just as two threads woven in opposite directions will form a most beautiful tapestry, so too can your two lives merge together to make a beautiful marriage. To make your relationship work, it will take LOVE. This is the core of your marriage and why you are here today. It will take TRUST, to know in your hearts that you truly want the best for each other. It will take DEDICATION, to stay open to one another – and to learn and grow together. It will take FAITH, to go forward together without knowing exactly what the future brings. It will take STRENGTH to go through life’s troubles together. And it will take COMMITMENT, to hold true to the journey you both pledge today to share together.

God Loves us, and created us in the image of God, as man and woman, to experience LOVE in the flesh for one another and to have relationship as shown in our LOVE for others. Our lives find completion only as we LOVE and are Loved in return. Together, we can become what we could never be, separately.

(Bride’s name and Groom’s name) come here today with the intention to be united together in ‘Sacred Marriage.’

TO THE BRIDE’S FATHER & MOTHER:

Ordained Minister: Who is giving this woman to be married to this man?

Bride’s Father answers “I do”

Bride’s Mother answers “I do”

Bride’s Mother & Father answer together: ‘We do.’

Should there be anyone who has cause why this couple should not be united in Sacred and Holy Matrimony, they must speak now or forever hold their peace.

(Pause)

The real act of LOVE’s Union takes place within the heart and soul, however, it is the choices of the mind you make every day – to LOVE and honor one another – to comfort and encourage one another – to laugh and support one another. And to LOVE, ‘Together.’

LOVE is the only thing that will maintain a marriage. Humankind did not create LOVE; LOVE was created by God. The measure of true LOVE is a LOVE both freely given and freely accepted. In Gods word:

1 Cor 13:4-8

“LOVE is patient, LOVE is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

LOVE does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

LOVE never fails.”

(Wedding couple moves to front of Ordained Minister and their attendants move to the front and to the sides of Ordained Minister at this time.)

Ordained Minister’s remarks:

It is a great privilege to be asked to preside over this ceremony today!

{Information about Bride & Groom}

I could go on, but let’s get on to the ceremony.

COMMENCE CEREMONY

We now celebrate the joining of this man and this woman in the Unity of ‘Sacred Marriage.’ There are no obligations on Earth sweeter or more tender than those you are about to assume. There are no vows more solemn than those you are about to make. There is no human institution more sacred than that of the family you are about to form. ‘Sacred Marriage,’ is the Holiest of all Earthly and Heavenly relationships. The state of matrimony is based in this deep, invisible union of two Spirits who have found love, honor, respect, support, strength, and comfort in one another.

Do you understand this?

(Bride & Groom answer “I do”)

Would you face each other and join hands.

(Groom), do you take (Bride) to be your wife? Do you promise to LOVE, honor, cherish, and protect her, forsaking all others and holding only to her forevermore? (answer “I do”)

(Bride), do you take (Groom) to be your husband? Do you promise to LOVE, honor, cherish, and protect him, forsaking all others and holding only to him forevermore? (answer “I do”)

Today (Groom & Bride) proclaim their LOVE and commitment to God and the world, and we gather here together to rejoice with and for them, in the new life they now undertake together.

The joy we feel now is a solemn joy, because the act of Sacred Marriage have many consequences, Social, Spiritual, and Personal. Marriage requires ‘LOVE’, a word we often use with vagueness and sentimentality. We may assume that LOVE is some rare and mystical event, when in fact it is our Spirit’s natural state of being.

So what do we mean by LOVE?

When we LOVE, we see things other people do not see. We see beneath the surface, to the qualities which make our LOVE special and unique. To see with loving eyes, is to know inner beauty. And to be LOVED is to be seen, and known, as we are known to no other. One who LOVES us, gives us a unique gift: a piece of ourselves, because we are supported, loved, and cherished; it is the piece that only they could give us.

THE MARRIAGE VOWS

TO GROOM: (Groom), will you repeat this vow to (Bride) saying after me:

I, (Groom), take you (Bride), to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true LOVE. I will cherish our union and LOVE you each day more than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you, and cry with you, loving you faithfully, through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my LOVE, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.

TO BRIDE: (Bride), will you repeat this vow to (Groom), saying after me:

I, (Bride), take you (Groom), to be my husband, my partner in life, and my one true LOVE. I will cherish our union and LOVE you each day more than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you, and cry with you, loving you faithfully, through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my LOVE from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.

THE EXCHANGE OF RINGS:  picks up rings from attendants

(While holding the rings, the Ordained minister shall say)

Though small in size, these rings are very large in significance.

Made of precious metal, they remind us that LOVE is strong and cannot be broken.

Made in a circle, their design reminds us that LOVE must never come to an end; we must keep it continuous.

As you wear these rings, whether together or apart for a moment, may they be constant reminders of these promises that you are making here, today.

TO GROOM: (Name), will you take your ring and place it upon the third finger of (Bride’s) left hand, and repeat after me this promise, saying: “With this ring, I seal my promise, to be your faithful, supporting, and loving husband.

TO BRIDE: (Name), will you take your ring and place it upon the third finger of (Groom’s) left hand, and repeat after me this promise, saying: “With this ring, I seal my promise to be your faithful, supporting, and loving wife.

ROSE CEREMONY (Have Groom and Bride pick up red roses)

In more elegant days, flowers were used as a means of communication. Each flower had a special meaning. In the old language of flowers, a single red rose always meant “I LOVE you”.

The Rose ceremony gives recognition to the new and most honorable title of Sacred Marriage, as “Husband and Wife”.

This Rose ceremony will act as a reminder, each time you see a red rose – in ways that can endure through your married life together.

(Bride & Groom) both hold a red rose in their hands, representing their LOVE – a symbol of your undying LOVE and commitment to one another.

You now have what remains the most honorable title which may exist between a man and a women – the title of “husband” and “wife”. So, since the red rose was considered a symbol of LOVE and a single red rose always meant only one thing – it meant the words “I LOVE you.” So it is appropriate that for your first gift – as husband and wife – be this single red rose.

Please exchange your first gift as husband and wife. (Pause)

In some ways it seems like you have not done anything at all. Just a moment ago you were holding one small red rose – and now you are holding one small red rose. In some ways, a marriage ceremony is like this. Tomorrow is going to seem no different than yesterday. But in fact today, you both have given and received one of the most valuable and precious gifts of life; your hearts – one I hope you always remember – fitted in the true and abiding LOVE within the devotion of Sacred Marriage, under God.

(Bride & Groom), I would ask that where ever you make your home in the future, that when times get tough, you buy each other red roses, both as a recommitment to your marriage – and a recommitment that THIS will be a marriage based upon LOVE and Trust.

In every marriage there is times where it is difficult to find the right words. It is easiest to hurt the one who we most LOVE. It is easiest to be more hurt by the one who we most LOVE. It might be difficult at times to say the words: “I am sorry” or “I forgive you,” “I need you” or “I am hurting”. If this should happen, if you simply cannot find these words, leave a red rose in a place where your partner will find it – for that red rose will symbolize what matters most of all and should overpower all other things and all other words.

That red rose says the words: “I LOVE you.” The other should accept this red rose for the words which can not be found, and remember the LOVE and hope that you both share today.

(Stay facing each other)

PRAYER FOR THE BRIDE AND GROOM

Dear Heavenly God, we come today asking for Your blessing upon these two lives and their family being established. God, may you bless everyone here, their relationships, marriages, and future relationships, with your grace. You have made us so that we are incomplete without Love, and we yearn for someone whom we can LOVE and whose LOVE we can receive.

We are thankful for the LOVE we see here, and even more, for the LOVE we feel from You, God. May we never take Your LOVE for us, for granted.

We pray that Your LOVE will be the shield and stay for (Bride & Groom). When joy comes, may they share it together. When sorrow threatens, may they bear it together, in gladness or in tears, in sunshine or shadow, may they ever draw closer to each other and nearer to You.

O God, protect their families from those forces that would break them apart.

Grant (Bride & Groom), their families, loved ones, and friends, with patience, gentleness, forbearance, strength, and understanding.

We here, ask for health, for long life, for the fulfillment of every good dream. May (Bride & Groom’s) LOVE continue through life and finally blend into the life eternal. May their Sacred Marriage be a reminder to all of us here today.

Through Yeshua’s name, and the power of the Holy Sprit; we pray. And so it is!
