Unifying Adam and Eve

Unifying Adam and Eve has always been, in my mind, a major goal. It has always puzzled me why the very first story in the Bible would be about a dysfunctional couple. This is the story that all Christians are told. This story is used to unconsciously, or consciously, structure our thoughts about the relationships between men and women.

Genesis 2:7-25, is the story of the creation of Adam and Eve.

How to Begin Unifying Adam and Eve

To begin to unravel the myth of Adam and Eve we fist have to look at this in a mindset of Unconditional Love. This is an important first step because it is the mindset of the Almighty God. If a thing does not easily mesh with unconditional love than the thing must go. Unconditional love is the truth and justice for which this world has been waiting.

Let’s get some unconditional love, truth and justice for the men and women of this world.

Since the Bible is a spiritual book, let’s look at these scriptures in a spiritual way. Genesis 1:7 says that the Lord God formed man from the dust. Then he breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man (the body) became a living soul. As I have brought out before, the word God in Genesis, in the original language is Elohim meaning many Gods. These many Gods are we ourselves. We are the beings that animate our bodies.

The breath and the soul are one. The body cannot live without the breath. We can, however, live without the body. The soul is eternal. We are the soul of the body.

Both Partners Need a Helpmate

Genesis 2:21-24 says that woman was formed as an afterthought. That Adam looked around and found he needed help and so a helpmate was formed and given to him. If we look at this scripture in a spiritual way we can easily see that this is speaking of the unifying of the two parts of the psyche. We are both male and female. There is a dominate part for all of us. We can be more dominantly male. We can also be more dominantly female.

In this myth we are seeing the story from only one side. Adam needs Eve to balance himself out. He needs a helpmate. It is true, however, that Eve also needs Adam to balance herself out. She needs a helpmate. Again we are talking about the psyche. The mind must have both parts healthy in order to be balanced enough to have the mind of God.

Adam needs Eve and Eve needs Adam.

We are talking about two sides of the brain; two distinct but unified functions that need to be online for us to reflect the face of God, to have the mind of God. The story has been simplified. Unfortunately, the storyteller slanted the story in a way that made it easy to misunderstand.

Genesis 2:24 says that the man and woman must become one flesh. In other words, spiritually speaking, no matter what you are told in this society, throw it out and unite with yourself. A man told to ignore the feminine within himself should ignore that. A woman told to ignore the masculine within herself should ignore that also.

Acknowledge and honor both the male and the female within yourself. They are meant to be one.

Adam and Eve are Butt Naked

Genesis 2:25 brings out that Adam and Eve were not ashamed of their nakedness. When the two halves of our psyche, or minds, are united in unconditional love we can feel proud of who we are. There is no need to be ashamed. We can freely exhibit the female and male characteristics that make up who we uniquely are without trying to hide from ourselves. Or from anybody else for that matter.
