Colour Therapy #2: Flowers in a Riot of Colour

To create a bit of atmosphere I would suggest listening to Chen Yue’s haunting rendition of  Arash Ghomeishi’s ‘Flowers in a Riot of Colour’ with the piano and chinese bamboo flute (Dizi).

On that note: Here is a series of coloured Flower – and Botanical pages for some end of the month inspiration! You are more than welcome to use these for desktop wallpapers!

Enjoy!

Poppy Carnival – oil pastels
Snow Orchids – oil pastels and pencils
The Ballerina – watercolour pencils and some blending in GIMP
Vintage Botanical – very wallpaper like
Vintage Flowers – has lots of fun here
The Bright Chrysanthemum, ‘Chrysanthemum albens’. Each flower a different medium; oil pastel, watercolour and graphitints.

  • Faber Castell WaterColour EcoPencils (24x pack)
  • Steadtler Watercolour Pencils (12x pack)

Mini-Review:

Post-coloured pages are from the book “Colour & Create: Flowers, Gardens & Botanicals. Mindful Colouring to Keep Yourself Calm”. Coloured designs have copyright by Octopus Publishing Group Ltd. 2015, which means coloured pages and their derivatives may be used for personal (non-commercial, i.e. no re-selling) purposes.

I like this book overall. It has double-printed pages, which can be irritating when I like both sides and makes me choose which one to use when I want to used them for crafts – boo. There are some repeat themes as well (i.e., similar images by the same artists). Generally it is a great book with lots of pictures and good paper stock for both dry and wet media.
