[URGENT ACTION REQUIRED] Potential issues with logging into Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations on-premise environments

Microsoft D365 for Finance and Operations integrates with Microsoft Skype to enable real-time presence and communications for your users. Starting October 3rd 2018 Microsoft Skype will be updating the way it authenticates its users, including your D365F&O users. During this update, you may not be able to log into your D365F&O service, unless you take the following steps to disable the Skype integration.

If the platform version of your D365F&O environment is PU15 with  update KB4458323

If you have not activated Skype integration in these environments, then no action is required. Skype is disabled in these environments by default.

If you have activated Skype integration in these environments, to avoid system connection issues related to the Skype update, you must manually disable Skype within D365F&O. (see below for steps)

If the platform version of your D365F&O environment is PU12 with update KB4091763

If the platform version of your D365F&O environment is PU15 with update KB4091764

To avoid system connection issues related to the Skype update, you must manually disable Skype within D365F&O (see below for steps)

Other combinations not listed have not provided the ability to disable Skype integration within the product. To avoid the in-ability to log into D365F&O you must update to a version of the platform that supports disabling Skype integration.

To determine your platform version and updates you’ve applied: Log into lcs.dynamics.com, select your project and click on “Full details” on your environment under the environments tab and note your platform release. For hotfix information  click on “History->Environment Changes” to see installed updates.

To manually disable Skype: Log into D365F&O,  select System administration -> Setup -> Client performance options -> Client internet connectivity -> Skype presence enabled. Set the toggle to "No.” Setting this toggle to “No” will disable Skype integration for all clients in your environment.

To update to a Platform version that supports disabling Skype Integration (or has skype disabled by default). Log into lcs.dynamics.com, select your project and click on “Full details” on your environment under the environments tab.

Click the “Platform binary updates” tile and click “Save Package” and select the KB associated with your platform version.

Click “save package” and select a name for the package in the asset library, and save the package followed by “done” when the save is complete.

Now the package is ready in the project’s asset library and a normal servicing operation can be completed with the saved package.
