I must admit i was pretty honored when asked to host the last semester of the Data Visualization Course for the University of Washington.   In addition to meeting some really cool people I will be the first to admit I probably learned more from the experience than the students in preparing for the lectures!   (For instance i now know a lot about multi variate charting, how memory encoding impacts data visualization, when the first "choose your chart" flow chart was created etc etc etc).

Taking advantage of the Business Applications Summit being in town next week I have very cool lecture for the students next week...An industry showcase of how some of the leading Data Visualization people are using these tools at the companies they are working at:

1. Phil Seamark explains how 70% of all Trademe employees, the largest etailer in New Zealand is using BI Tools (That is the highest % I have seen)
2. Treb Gatte will walk through how Pandora makes their data actionable with BI Tools
3. Luc Labelle How the National Bank of Canada rolled out BI Tools to their branches
4. How Vivek Patel and the AECON Group is using Supply Chain Data Analytics to Drive Performance with Power BI
5. Kelly Kaye will walk through how Microsoft Finance uses BI Tools to keep track of our assets and make sure business practices are being followed

Kelly Kaye, a senior finance manager, is passionate about Power BI. Kelly is the founder and a monthly co-host of the Power BI Geeks user group.  She actively participates the Power BI design process and one of the most active contributors in the Microsoft Power BI Yammer Group​

Philip Seamark

Treb Gatte

Treb Gatte is the Managing Partner at TumbleRoad.com, where using his techniques, he's helped well-known companies like Wells Fargo and Starbucks achieve project management and business intelligence success.

He is an internationally recognized project management expert, author, speaker and a Microsoft MVP. He's used his Project and SharePoint expertise to author two books on the software. He has a B.S. from Louisiana State University and an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University.
