Power BI Sharing and Governance Hands On
A hands-on and interactive session designed to look at tools for developing, publishing, and managing your BI assets. We will cover the primary admin settings including: publishing options, administration and Governance controls, and end-user capabilities across devices and platforms. In this session you will use the tools for publishing and managing your BI assets. Topics being covered are using capacities in Power BI, safely sharing Power BI assets and finally using the Power BI audit log to optimize your Power BI Usage.

How to Design Visually Stunning Power BI Reports
In this session we have the best of the best (or would it be Beauty and the Beast?); our very own Portland beauty Rachel teams up with the beast from up north, Charles Sterling on the Power BI team to walk through “~10 rules for designing Power BI reports”, with helpful guidelines for creating great-looking reports and dashboards, particularly for analysts with little graphic design experience. The rules included:
1. Draw a sketch first. It doesn’t matter what tool you use – Excel, PowerPoint, or even a pen and paper are all options – but sketch out your ideas before you place anything.
2. Enhance the important parts. Even with six or fewer elements on a report page, you still want to guide the viewer's eye to the critical metrics. Highlight important parts of your report with a bright color or summary icon.
3. Select the right Background. According to our in house artist Miguel Myers, a white background will make your presentation look “clean” and business-like, a black background will draw the eye to colorful highlights, and the right HD image in the background can add a lot of feeling.
What is new and exciting in Power BI
With weekly and monthly releases, there are a lot of fantastic new features to explore. In this session, we will cover an overview of what has been released in Power BI. We will be covering the new collaboration features in the cloud-based business analytics service the new authoring and modeling features of Power BI Desktop, extend your reach to mobile applications, new Power BI resources and finally what is new for developers leveraging the Power BI platform.
