Experiencing Alerting failure for Many Data Types – 02/14 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 2/14, 19:41 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 2/14, 14:45 UTC and that during that time about 7% of customers received intermittent errors viewing metric and availability data
while using the overview blade in the Azure Management Portal.


  • Root Cause: The failure was due to a bad instance state
  • Incident Timeline: 4 Hours & 56 minutes - 2/14, 14:45 UTC through 2/14, 19:41 UTC

We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.
