MIEE Spotlight- Gemma Sanderson

Today's MIEE Spotlight is shining brightly on Primary Teacher Gemma Sanderson from Microsoft Showcase School, Kirkton of Largo Primary School in Scotland. Gemma is an innovative and forward thinking teacher, and due to her dedication and hard work, alongside her colleagues, Kirkton of Largo was awarded 'Learning Through Technology Award' at the Scottish Education Awards in 2016 and 2017!

Gemma has been using Office 365 within Scotland's GLOW Portal with her pupils from 5 years old to 11 years old and this has totally transformed the way in which she plans and communicates with her colleagues. Office 365 underpins a lot of what happens in Kirkton of Largo Primary School. Gemma created a school site in SharePoint for staff and pupils to share and collaborate together as well as utilising OneDrive for her pupils to store their work at school and at home.

Gemma's favourite tool, which brings all of this together, is OneNote Class Notebook. The effective use of this in her classroom has totally transformed the way in which Gemma plans her lesson, takes notes and as a school, they have begun to explore ways in which the school can go 'paperless' and use OneNote as a digital notebook.

As well as supporting the staff in her school, Gemma shares her expertise across Fife and Scotland, encouraging other teachers to use Office 365 tools effectively in their daily teaching practice.
