MIEE Spotlight- Joel Mills


 Today's MIEE Spotlight is on Joel Mills, Technology Enhanced Learning Advisor at the University of Hull. Joel is passionate about the impact that Minecraft can have in Education from Primary right through to Higher Education.

Joel is leading his field in research and in practice in using Minecraft Education Edition within the University. He has developed a variety of projects across a wide range of departments such as, Health, Archaeology, History and Chemistry through an integrated Games Based Learning Approach. He inspires many other educators in their journey to using Games Based Learning by running training events, such as 'Minecraft for Educators' which had 3,000 enrolments from all across the globe using Minecraft as the driver and assessment tool!

Joel has published a variety of case studies of using Minecraft in Higher Education that you can find in his Sway below, as well as examples of the games created by his students. As an academic researcher and practitioner, Joel is very unique and knowledgeable in his field. He has showcased this at MineCon 2015 in London as part of the team of Education Experts.

Joel looks forward to incorporating the HoloLens into his University to bring an immersive experience to the classroom.
