Reset Windows 10 Forgotten Local User Password

Use the Password Reset Tool for Microsoft Live Accounts

if your Windows 10 has configured with Microsoft account logon, you can reset a new password for Microsoft account on Microsoft  link https://account.live.com/password/reset then you can access Windows 10.

Select i forgot my password - Then fallow the reset process to recover the password.


After complete password change use the new password to login to windows 10 / 8.1.

Reset Windows 10 Forgotten Local User Password
Using Password Reset Disk

Using a password reset disk is one of the easiest methods to reset your forgotten Windows password. The only downside of this procedure is that you need to have the password reset disk created beforehand.

Note: the password reset disk created on one Windows system will not work on another system.

If you are using Windows 10 then you need to be using the local account in order to create a password reset disk.

 Now Lets See How To Reset password using Reset Disk. First access to your Windows 10 login screen.  Simply type your a wrong password after put wrong password 2 or 3 times Reset your password will pop up. Then insert your USB flash drive password reset disk to your computer then click the link.  The wizard will guide you to reset your password. You can also create a new password for your local user account.


Note: We highly recommend that you make a password reset disk when you crate a password for your computer. Just in case you forget. This method only works with a local admin account, if you have no reset disk tool, then Try the second solution blow.


 Reset Windows 10 password with command
This is a method that can reset Windows 10 forgotten password . for this you Require only the installation media.

first insert the installation DVD or bootabel USB Restart the windows . Press DEL or F2 key to Access the BIOS setup. on Bios Setup change the boot order first boot from Cd , DVD or USB. Now press F10 to save changes.



when windows start it will ask press any key to boot form DVD. press any key.



now the installation screen is in front on your screen. Open Command Prompt with Shift + F10 keys.


on command prompt first check On which drive windows installed.

To do this type command diskpart. and press enter this will display list of vloumes. check which volume have windows installed.


 Now exit from disk part and move to to the isntalled directory use command   D: and press enter.
Now access windows forler use command cd windows  and access system 32 folder use command cd system 32

first backup the ultiman.exe and cmd.exe 

  use command copy utilman.exe utilman1.exe  to backup utilman.exe


use command  copy cmd.exe to cmd1.exe to backup cmd.exe


Now to delete utilman.exe Type command del utilman.exe

now Rename cmd1.exe to utilman.exe As shown bellow image


Use command Rename cmd1.exe  utilman.exe

that's it now close command prompt and cancel the installation window. it will prompt to restart.
now restart the windows to normaly .


Click-the-Utility-Manager-icon_thumb  As soon as click on utility icon command prompt will open

when command prompt opens. use command control userpasswords2  and press enter this will open user accounts window as shown bellow image.


Here now select the user account which you want to reset password. click the user account and select Reset password option. it will prompt for new password As shown on bellow image.


now put the new password click ok to make changes to save. close the command prompt.
now use the new password to login to windows.

you will successfully login to your system.
