Microsoft introduced the new Photos App in Windows 10, The Photos app on Windows 10 is amazing. It is a huge improvement from what Microsoft gave us on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. The universal Photos app is the default Photo viewing app in Windows 10 and the classic Windows photo viewer app is turned off by default.You can actually use it as a default photo viewer if you wish to without installing any third party photo viewer.
The new Photos app is not just an image viewer but it also offers basic image editing and optimizing tools as well. It offers you add various effects and filters to your photos. But sometimes this Photos app crashes whenever an image is opened using this application. and also this app stops working at all.
Since the Photos app is the default image viewer in Windows 10 and the fact that classic Windows Photo Viewer is turned off by default, many users are having difficult times in opening picture files in Windows 10. Restore libraries to default
Windows 10 Photo app is connected with libraries in your File Explorer, so if there’s some problem in libraries, the app won’t show any photos and videos. To solve this problem, you have to restore libraries to default, This is a minor fix for this issue and you never know this might just work. Just follow the steps below.
Press windows + E to Open the File Explorer and then on the top of the window click on the View tab. here Now click on Navigation pane on the left most side and select Show libraries. as shown bellow image.
Now You will notice that Libraries will start appearing on the File Explorer now.
Right click on Libraries and then choose Restore default libraries option. as shown bellow image.
That’s all you need to do now Open your Photos app again, and you should be able to see images. If you’re unable to even open the Photos app, follow the next solution.
Run the Store app Troubleshooter
This photo app is related to windows store. if any thing wrong with windows store this will effect to other apps . to fix this type of errors Windows 10 has a very unique troubleshooting application called Troubleshooter. This application provides a simple interface for the users to select an application they want to troubleshoot. To run the troubleshooter, follow the steps below.
open control panel by pressing win + X key on keyboard and select control panel application , You can also type Control panel inside Search Box.
when control panel window opens , select view by small icons here find and select Troubleshooting and click over it. It will open up the troubleshooter application. Click on View all located at the top left pane of the Window. you will see a list of apps which you can troubleshoot. Select Windows Store Apps from the list and click Next on the button appearing after you have clicked Windows Store Apps.
It will start troubleshooting any error with your Windows Store Applications and would try to fix them. if this step not worked for you we have more tips to fix this error. fallow the next step.

Type powershell inside search box and right click on it to run it as an administrator.
Type the following command in the powershell to uninstall the Photos app. Press Enter key after typing. It would uninstall your Photos app.
get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage
After uninstalling the app, you need to install it again. Now you can download it from Windows Store.
To do this Open Windows Store from Start/Search.
In the Store App, search for Microsoft Photos and install it.
It would definitely solve the crashing issue.
Re-register all apps
Re-registering the store app might also work if the both of the above mentioned methods don’t work. Follow the steps below.
Type powershell inside search box and right click on it to run it as an administrator. when the power shell window opens type following command as it is to re-register store apps and press Enter.
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
wait untill the command to execute after complete the command restart your PC and hopefully, it would fix the issue.
Restore your system to previous working state
If nothing is working for you then its now the best time to utilize the system Restore option to rewind your system to previous working state. System Restore allows you to ‘rewind’ your Windows installation to an earlier working state, without affecting your documents.
